First Impressions competition: 22 May 2008

This week’s competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a memoir:

“I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills.”

The winner receives a £25 book voucher. The closing date is 21 May.

The winner of last week’s competition, who identified "Archipelagoes" (also known as 'The Port of Spain') from "The Map of the New World" poems which featured in "The Fortunate Traveller", "Selected Poetry" and "Omeros" by Derek Walcott, is Holly Green of Maidstone, Kent
