This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a novelist whose work has been frequently filmed:

"I met my Aunt Augusta for the first time in more than half a century at my mother's funeral"

The winner receives a £25 Blackwell's voucher. The closing date is February 4.

The winner of last week's competition, who identified Lytton Strachey's Eminent Victorians, is Martin Daunton of the University of Cambridge.
