First Impressions

This week's First Impressions, the competition in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, comes from a work that owes something to Lenin and Warren Beatty:

"Towards the end of September 1917, an alien professor of sociology visiting Russia came to see me in Petrograd."

The winner receives a £20 book token and the closing date is August 25.
