Patrick Brighty is a German and history student at the University of Warwick, currently studying on my year abroad at the Freie Universität Berlin. Originally from Cambridge, his academic interests lie in global history, namely redressing eurocentrism in the study of history, as well as Weimar and national socialist film. Outside of academia, his passions include producing, marketing (and consuming) comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe; tackling climate change and most importantly, Norwich City Football Club.
The year abroad is a worthwhile cultural experience that blogger Patrick Brighty would recommend to anyone. However, don’t feel the need to fulfil that classic year abroad cliché of falling in love with the country you move to. It’s OK to come home and appreciate it more
