Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, formerly known as Zonguldak Karaelmas University, was founded in 1992 with a primary focus on education in mining and engineering. It’s situated in Zonguldak, the capital of Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey.
While the university in its present form was founded in 1992, it has links back to the Mining Engineering School, which was established in 1924.
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University now has 14 different faculties: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, education, arts and sciences, fine arts, economics and administrative sciences, theology and communication. There’s also nine vocational schools. Students can gain both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within these faculties.
To supplement studies, there’s both a hospital and dentistry practice available for students. This is where students can put the skills learnt in the classroom into practise to prepare them for careers in these professions.
On campus, there’s an indoor semi-Olympic size swimming pool, a fitness centre and an exercise room. Students and faculty can use the facilities, as well as graduates, retired and guest users.
There’s also a guest house, located within the campus of the university in the centre of Zonguldak, which is open to all public employees and guests of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University.
The university also has partnerships with other universities worldwide offering students the chance to spend a year studying abroad. Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University also accepts international students to its campus every year.
