Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in the disciplines of Virology and Biological Sciences and have a strong interest in working closely with virologists and clinicians. They are expected to be highly motivated and come up with independent lines of research enquiry. Previous experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage: a) developing and working with infectious clones, tissue culture or primary cell culture models, b) ability to work with infectious small animals, c) omic-science, or d) microbial bioinformatics as applied to clinical research. The appointee will conduct research projects related to emerging agents of hepatitis (such as rat hepatitis E virus) under the supervision of Dr. Siddharth Sridhar in a leading clinical-translational emerging viral hepatitis research laboratory. The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies Geneva, Switzerland invites applications for a tenure-track full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor of International Law starting on 1 September 2027 or on a mutually agreed-upon date. We are seeking to hire an outstanding colleague with the potential for research leadership in international law and with a demonstrated interest in issues related to global health. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in law prior to the start of their contract and show excellence in research through completed projects and a promising research agenda. Postdoctoral research experience is not required but considered an asset. Applications from candidates already holding a position of Assistant Professor in another institution are also welcome. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the Department of International Law. They will teach postgraduate courses and supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Law. They will also be called upon to teach classes and supervise master’s dissertations in the interdisciplinary programme and may be asked to contribute to executive education programmes. In light of the interdisciplinary character of the Graduate Institute, the selected candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary dialogue, teaching and research. Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related disciplines. They should have a strong quantitative background; experience in analysing epidemiological data using R, STATA, SAS or other statistical packages; demonstrated expertise in the analysis of large and complex datasets; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in longitudinal analyses, multilevel modelling, data visualisation, and state-of-the-art statistical and epidemiological models would be an advantage. The appointees will be primarily responsible for applied and methodological work in epidemiological and/or statistical research, and will work with a large population-based cohort with over 46,000 participants in 20,000 households. They will conduct power/sample size estimation; generate tables and figures for reports and presentations; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. The focus of one of the posts will include The World Health Organization World Mental Health Survey Initiative and the Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI), which is one of the largest cross-national mental health studies in the world. Those with relevant post-doctoral work experience and an excellent publication track record may be considered for appointment as RAP, and the appointee is expected to take up a leading role to oversee the cohort team.
