The role Applications are invited for a Research Fellow (RF) position for 8 months within the Centre for Vision Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP), University of Surrey, UK, to work on perceptual evaluations and data curation for spatial music.  The post is funded by a leading industry partner. The focus will be to organise and perform listening tests to evaluate the perceptual quality of spatialised music audio, record the listening scores from each subject, perform statistical analysis of the listening test data, and organise the data files. The post-holder is expected to collaborate with other team members, such as the Research Fellow who focuses on building machine learning models for perceptual quality prediction.  About you The post-holder is expected to have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineering, computer science, psychology of hearing, or a related field. Preference will be given to those who have experience on listening test, data curation, audio perception, psychoacoustics, but candidates who have experience in spatial audio and music audio are welcome to apply. The post-holder is expected to have skills in using software tools to manage and curate datasets with listening test scores.  The post-holder will be based in CVSSP, and work under the direction of the Principal Investigator Prof Wenwu Wang, and in collaboration with the industrial partner. CVSSP is an International Centre of Excellence for research in Audio-Visual Machine Perception and AI, with over 180 researchers. The Centre has state-of-the-art audio and video capture and analysis facilities supporting research in real-time video and audio processing and visualisation. CVSSP has a compute facility with 300 GPUs and >2PB of high-speed secure storage. Reporting to the Executive Dean and as a member of the Faculty Extended Executive, the role provides strategic academic, people and operational leadership across the Psychology and Social Sciences disciplines, contributing to Faculty governance, planning and decision-making at a senior level. Job Purpose:  The Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in environmental sustainability, working with internal teams and industry partners to develop practical solutions.
