Zabol University of Medical Sciences began in 1991, as a subsidiary branch of Zahedan University of Medical Science. In 2002, the health faculty separated out from the main university. It was subsequently promoted to university status, and was launched – complete with medical, pharmacy, health, paramedical, nursing and midwifery schools – in 2006. 
Around 2,000 students are currently enrolled in ZUMS. In addition to the fields above, researchers from ZUMS have published peer-reviewed papers in the areas of medicinal chemistry and environmental-health engineering.

Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in Bioinformatics in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 537614), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, biomedical data science, or a related discipline, with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Excellent motivation in teaching and learning should be demonstrated in teaching bioinformatics and related disciplines. The appointee will contribute to the bioinformatics, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy undergraduateand postgraduate programmes. Applicants should also have strong communication and organisational skills, the ability to work independently and as a team, and be able to multitask.

The appointee will be responsible for teaching, conducting tutorials and demonstrations, supporting curriculum design, and developing teaching materials. He/She will work closely with a team of colleagues dedicated to the development and delivery of innovative pedagogical approaches to improve student learning across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salary tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.

About the Role

The Lecturer I in Surveying in the Surveying Section is a key academic position responsible for the practical delivery of foundational surveying skills to undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Surveying and Bachelor of Geographical Information Science programs. The role requires a Master’s degree in surveying or a related discipline and recent professional experience in land surveying. 

The lecturer will be the coordinator of subjects delivered by the surveying section and will be expected to develop and deliver: lecture materials, practicals, assessments and examinations. The lecturer will also be expected to coordinate student field work and supervise student final year projects. A strong emphasis is placed on mentoring students and supervision of fieldwork activities.

Primary Responsibilities


	Course delivery, supervision and mentoring

	
		Develop, deliver and examine subjects offered by the Surveying Section
		Run field work activities during the annual field camp
		Supervise student final year projects and provide mentoring for students

Qualification & Experience


	Citizenship: Be a PNG, PICT or Commonwealth citizen.
	Education: Bachelor’s degree in Surveying (preferably from PNGUoT) or international equivalent. Master’s degree (by coursework or research) in Surveying or closely related discipline. 
	Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years full-time equivalent professional experience with GNSS, cadastral, engineering, or topographic surveys.
	Licensing:
	
		Registered Surveyor (PNG, PICT or Commonwealth jurisdiction) is preferred.
	
	


Key Competencies:


	High level written and spoken competency in English
	Demonstrate proficiency with total stations, levels, and theodolites.
	Demonstrate proficiency with GNSS surveying, laser scanning and UAVs (desirable but not essential).
	Ability and willingness to teach, mentor, and supervise students in practical settings.
	Strong sense of responsibility, time management, and interpersonal skills.
	Commitment to safety protocols and professional field standards.


Desirable Attributes:


	Familiarity with Surveying software, GNSS software, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or GIS software.
	Previous experience in a teaching or training capacity.
	Willingness to work flexible hours during extended fieldwork exercises.
	Open to pursuing PhD study on a part-time basis, if desired.

	Base Salary: Lecturer I – K47,060 – K57,518 per annum per annum
	Domestic Market Allowance: K13,639 – K20,817 per annum

POSITION PURPOS

A Level B Research Fellow academic is expected to carry out team research within the field in which he/she is appointed and to carry out activities to develop his/her research expertise relevant to the particular field of research. The Research Fellow has to demonstrate outstanding contributions to School of Engineering publication, and deliver high expectations in research. He/she is expected to publish a minimum of two Q1 papers (with one paper in a top 10% journal) per annum as the first author.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties required of a Level B Research Fellow include:


	Research Contribution: Contribute to multiple research projects within the Centre for Net-Zero Technology under the guidance and direction of your Supervisor.
	Scholarly Publications: Produce high-quality research outputs, including publishing at least two Q1 journal articles per year as first author, with a minimum of one paper published in a Top-10 (T10) journal.
	Grant and Reporting Support: Provide comprehensive support in preparing and developing research proposals, progress reports, and other documentation required for research funding applications.
	Student Mentorship: Mentor and provide appropriate assistance to graduate research students and final-year undergraduate students affiliated with your Supervisor’s research group and the Centre.
	Research Engagement: Actively participate in the broader research, scholarly, and collaborative activities of your Supervisor’s research group and the Centre.
	Research Student Support: Take responsibility for providing day-to-day academic advice and research support to graduate research students associated with your research group.


KEY SELECTION CRITERIA


	PhD qualification in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with a strong record of scholarly and professional achievement and demonstrated expertise in data-driven and mechanistic modelling, process simulation, advanced numerical and mathematical modelling, and/or multiscale modelling, with applications to hydrogen technologies, industrial decarbonisation, and the transition of hard-to-abate industries towards net-zero emissions.
	Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality and impactful research in the relevant fields of specialisation, supported by a strong track record of refereed publications and experience in applying data-driven, mechanistic and numerical modelling approaches to address complex engineering, energy and sustainability challenges.
	Demonstrated ability to contribute to research grant acquisition and project delivery, including supporting the development and preparation of competitive research and industry funding proposals, particularly for government, industry and international funding schemes. The candidate should also be capable of contributing to post-award project administration and execution, including research planning and coordination, stakeholder engagement, preparation of technical reports and deliverables, monitoring of project progress, and the timely achievement and completion of project milestones.
	Demonstrated capacity for innovation, including the ability to generate original ideas, build upon existing knowledge, and develop novel concepts and practical solutions.
	Willingness and capacity to contribute to collegial research activities, including collaboration within interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder research environments.

About the Job

As Training Lead for the SRS Transformation Programme, you will lead the training workstream supporting the introduction of Ellucian Banner, UEL’s new student records system. You will develop and maintain the training plan, oversee training needs analysis, coordinate the design and delivery of engaging learning solutions, and ensure training activity aligns with the wider change and engagement strategy.

You will work closely with programme colleagues, business analysts, process owners and technical teams, while providing direction and quality assurance to training officers. You’ll be an experienced Digital or IT Training professional with a strong background in delivering training to diverse audiences and creating high-quality digital learning content. With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you’ll be organised, proactive and able to work independently as well as within a team. A degree, higher or professional qualification, together with training and/or teaching experience in IT or digital skills, is essential.
