Position Summary UCBD invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Business and Marketing. The successful candidate will teach relevant business and marketing courses along with leading the business and marketing streams offered under different partner universities. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the learning ecosystem of the Business and Marketing programs. Deliver lectures, workshops, tutorials, and assessments. Support curriculum alignment with different partner universities’ academic frameworks. Engage in research, consultancy, and professional practice. Develop and consolidate contacts with industry/employers and other external organisations. Collaborate with industry partners and UCBD’s academic teams.  Qualifications and Experience Essential: PhD in Marketing, Business, or related field. Master’s and or Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. At least 5-7 years of teaching experience (post PhD or combined) in relevant fields. Demonstrated professional expertise and teaching experience in the discipline and/or subject areas being taught at university level. Understanding of the principles of effective assessment design, using formative assessment to improve student performance, and familiarity with international summative assessment standards. Capacity to establish a rapport with students, and the effective communication and interpersonal skills need to engage with students, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders. Familiarity with academic administration through serving on academic committees, working as a programme or subject leader, etc. Desirable Evidence of publications including academic and industry publications and conference presentations. A positive personal work ethic, solid organizational and time management skills, the capacity to tackle multiple responsibilities, prioritize important tasks, and deliver on time. Compensation and Benefits Package Salary Range: USD 3,000–3,500 (net). Negotiable for exceptionally qualified candidates.  Accommodation: Fully furnished, institution-designated apartment located near the campus. Transportation: Pick and drop service provided. Baggage Allowance: USD 500 for the employee and USD 500 for each accompanied dependent (if any). This allowance will be provided twice — upon initial joining and upon final departure. Utilities: Electricity, gas, cable TV, and internet expenses covered by the company as per policy. Medical Insurance: Local medical insurance coverage for the employee and accompanied dependents. Mobile Allowance: Institution-provided SIM card with monthly ceiling as per policy. Air Travel: Annual round-trip air ticket (economy class) to the home country for the employee and accompanied dependents. School of Computer Science and Mathematics, Liverpool John Moores University in partnership with Ames Goldsmith UK Limited This post is fixed term for 30 months £38,000-£42,000 per annum depending on experience Full time: 37.5 hours per week Based on site at Ames Goldsmith in Kirkby, this Process Engineer (KTP Associate) post is part of the Engineering team reporting directly to the UK Operations Manager and is a 30-month fixed-term contract. This role will lead a manufacturing improvement programme at Ames Goldsmith UK Ltd, focused on improving cost, capacity and overall performance through better use of production and business data. Working as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Liverpool John Moores University, the Associate will use their engineering and computational knowledge, alongside developing skills in data analysis and digital tools, to deliver practical improvements and help build long-term capability within the business. The role will also involve some collaboration with Ames Goldsmith’s sister company, Ceimig Limited, particularly where there are opportunities to share learning or apply improvements across both UK sites. Key responsibilities include: Use production, quality and business data to spot where things can run better, cheaper, or more efficiently. Lead the move away from paper-based across all business processes towards simpler, more reliable digital ways of working (e.g. SOPs, data capture, reporting). Take ownership of a defined programme of work, delivering staged improvements from data capture through to analysis, optimisation, and implementation. Build practical tools (such as dashboards or reports) that help operators and managers make better decisions. Plan and deliver improvement projects focused on reducing costs, increasing capacity, and making processes more efficient. Help shape forward plans for maintenance, improvement work, and future engineering priorities. Make sure improvements are properly embedded into day-to-day operations so they continue to deliver value over time. We are looking for graduates in engineering, computer science, data science or related technical disciplines who want to build experience in data-led manufacturing and progress towards a technical or operational leadership role. Other requirements include: Experience in applying technical knowledge and skill to solve problems of a commercial nature. Evidence of independently managing development projects in either an academic or industrial environment. Ability to work with data (e.g. analysing datasets, using Excel or similar tools) and draw practical conclusions. Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills. Ability to work individually and as a member of a team. We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher in Non-gray Thermal Radiation Modelling We are seeking a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher in thermal radiation modelling to join the Fire Safety Engineering research group in the Department of Civil Engineering at Aalto University. Your role and goals The successful candidate will conduct doctoral research at the intersection of fire safety and energy engineering. The research will focus on developing non-gray models for the radiative properties of multi-phase flows, with particular attention on the fuel particles in wildland fires. The research topics include: Extending full-spectrum non-gray models for gases to solid particles Experimental characterization of fuel particles using FTIR Mathematical model formulation and programming Model implementation in Fire Dynamics Simulator CFD code Experimental validation of simulations Machine learning for accelerated evaluation of radiative properties The doctoral degree will be awarded upon successful completion of advanced doctoral coursework (30 ECTS), preparation of an article-based doctoral dissertation, and a successful public defence of the thesis. During the duration of the doctoral studies, the researcher will be expected to publish in leading academic journals and high-level scientific conferences, engage in teaching-related duties, actively participate in the research group activities, assist in the preparation of new research proposals, and help to advise master’s students during the preparation of their final project. The primary workplace is Aalto University’s Otaniemi campus, and the role requires regular on-site presence. Your network and team The Doctoral Researcher will be a member of the Fire Safety Engineering team at the Department of Civil Engineering, Building Performance research area. The doctoral studies and research will be supervised by Professor Simo Hostikka. Your experience and ambitions We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in heat transfer, mathematical methods in engineering physics, and a demonstrated interest in numerical methods, and high-performance computing.
