About Yamaguchi University
Yamaguchi University, founded in 1949 is a Japanese institution formed by integrating six public schools in the Yamaguchi Prefecture - the Yamaguchi Higher School, the Yamaguchi College of Economics, the Ube Technical College, the Yamaguchi Normal School, the Yamaguchi Youth Normal School and the Yamaguchi College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry. Its wide range of courses are organised in the faculties of humanities, education, economics, science and agriculture, in the campus of Yamaguchi, and medicine and engineering in Ube.
The university strives to properly integrate its international students, by creating a new building to acommodate exchange students and by setting up a 24-hour call center available in Japanese, English and Chinese, intended to secure students’ safety and well-being.
The campuses are located in quiet, earthquake safe areas. The Yamaguchi Prefecture, situated on the west side of the Honshu Island is almost entirely surrounded by ocean.
One notable alumni of the Yamaguchi University is the Japanese politician Daishiro Yamagiwa.
