Description We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics with fields of research in Macroeconomics or Computational Social Science. The appointment is for 2 years and will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and visa acquisition by the prospective postdoc candidate. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Alaïs Martin-Baillon, Jordan Norris, and Samreen Malik. The collaborative research will be on macroeconomic expectations, with a focus on firms and the role of networks. An ideal candidate may have experience with surveys and have expertise in computational economics. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. Applications are now invited for the following post: Professor and Director Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute (Post Ref.: 24/245) Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute (PSEI) aims to promote policy-related research on economic development of the Mainland and Hong Kong. It will synergise resources and expertise in the Mainland and Hong Kong to strengthen research on salient issues related to the economic and financial development of the two places. It will also provide research consultancy on industry and economic policies, in addition to offering policy advice to the authorities to foster mutual prosperity of the Mainland and Hong Kong. The Institute is seeking an outstanding scholar with distinguished scholarly accomplishment in research, teaching and knowledge exchange in the field of policy-related research on economic development of the Mainland and Hong Kong. The appointee will be appointed as a Professor in the Department of Economics and concurrently as Director of the PSEI. Salary and Benefits The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Description The Bias, Ethics, and Privacy Cluster within the Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate under the supervision of Professor Hanan Salam to work on the development of frameworks, tools, and theoretical foundations for bias detection and mitigation in AI & data science, with a particular focus on applications relevant to the Arab world. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary research team working at the intersection of machine learning, algorithmic fairness, human-computer interaction, and responsible AI. The project aims to investigate how bias emerges in data pipelines and AI systems, understand the design and development decisions that propagate social biases, and develop theoretical and algorithmic approaches to mitigate them. Key responsibilities include developing bias detection tools, building fairness-aware algorithms, and contributing to practical guidelines and theoretical frameworks that address systemic bias in data-driven systems. This position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant research environment with faculty and collaborators across computer science, data science, design, and ethics, and to contribute to high-impact research that shapes the development of equitable and inclusive AI technologies in the Arab region. Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, HCI, or a closely related field, and a strong track record of research in areas such as algorithmic fairness, bias in machine learning, ethics in AI, or sociotechnical systems. Strong programming and data analysis skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience working with interdisciplinary research.
