Widyatama University was established in 2001 via the merger of Bandung College of Economics, Bandung Language College, Bandung Widyatama College of Technology, and the College of Visual Communication Design. Its constituent institutions’ roots stretch back to 1973. The university is based in Bandung, the capital of Indonesia’s West Java province on the island of Java.
Its five faculties are: economics and business; engineering; languages; communication and visual design; and social and political sciences. Both bachelor’s and master’s programmes are delivered.
The courses include: accounting, management, international trade, informatics engineering, information systems, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, Japanese language, English language, graphic design, multimedia, library and information science, and film and television production.
Widyatama provides various scholarship opportunities for students in need.
It has cooperation agreements with other universities, research centres, government bodies, NGOs and businesses. Staff undertake both domestic and international exhanges.
In collaboration with Unesco and Indonesia’s Ministry of Research and Technology, Widyatama was designated a Regional Observatory of the Information Society in Asia and the Pacific (ROISAP), whose goal is to raise awareness of the ethical, legal and social issues around the rapidly evolving information society.
