About West Virginia University
West Virginia University is a network of campuses that are united by a mission to advance education, healthcare and prosperity for everyone through providing opportunity, generating research and modelling transformation in West Virginia and beyond.
A public land-grant university, the university’s flagship campus is in Morgantown. It is also home to the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley and the Potomac State College of West Virginia University in Keyser. There is a clinical campus for medical and dental students at Charleston Area Medical Centre in Charleston.
Students at the university come from 112 nations. Between the various institutions there are some 455 majors in a range of subjects including natural resources, agriculture, human sciences, business and economics, creative arts, engineering and mineral resources, law, medicine, nursing, public health and more. There are hundreds of programmes available through the comprehensive online education portal.
The university has produced many scholars including 46 Goldwater Scholars, 25 Truman Scholars, 3 Marshall Scholars and many more.
On campus there’s a range of residence halls and apartment blocks with areas for unwinding, studying and socialising. There are plenty of places to get a good meal including residential dining centres.
Students can choose from over 450 student organisations or a variety of sports teams. The university competes in 18 intercollegiate varsity sports.
