The University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw is located in the heart of Warsaw, Poland. The university provides undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies. There is a diverse range of degree programmes on offer, in the faculties of: management, finance and accounting, psychology, computer science, political science, dietetics, cosmetology, and English and German philology. The university also has a preparatory school, which provides students with the opportunity to take English language courses. Online courses have been newly adopted by the university and are offered to all students. The university’s Vizja Park campus has four auditoriums, eight computer rooms, a climbing wall, sports hall and ballet studio. There’s a mock courtroom, a press conference room, a mock stock exchange, natural sciences lab, sensory integration lab among other facilities. The Vizja Park campus is also used by business and science representatives, who hold conferences and training. The university collaborates with a range of academic institutions located across the world, in countries including Croatia, Norway, China and Ecuador.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Researcher – Potash brine and phosphogypsum valorization. Duration: 12 months. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled postdoctoral researcher to join a multidisciplinary research project dedicated to the sustainable valorization of potash brine and phosphogypsum, with a specific focus on bioleaching technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the use of environmentally friendly bioleaching techniques for the extraction of valuable resources from these industrial by-products. The project embedded in a circular economy approach aimed at reducing environmental impacts while creating value from industrial co-products, namely phosphogypsum and residual brines generated by sedimentary potash processing activities. The postdoctoral researcher will investigate the valorization of each material separately through physicochemical and biological approaches, with the objective of identifying optimal pathways for resource recovery. The project will also focus on the combined treatment of phosphogypsum and brines, studying the synergistic and symbiotic effects arising from their interaction within integrated bioprocesses. This work will contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable strategies for the recovery of sulfur, magnesium, potassium and other valuable elements from industrial residues. Area of Research: Valorization of industrial by-products derived from sedimentary potash processing and phosphoric acid production. The research will involve physicochemical and biological treatment approaches for potash brines and phosphogypsum, as well as the development of integrated processes exploiting potential synergistic effects between both materials within a circular economy framework. Main responsibilities: Conduct a comprehensive literature review on potash brine management, phosphogypsum valorization, and related physicochemical and biological processing routes. Perform chemical, mineralogical, and physicochemical characterization of potash brines and phosphogypsum. Design and carry out laboratory-scale experiments to investigate separate valorization pathways for brines and phosphogypsum; Develop and evaluate integrated treatment strategies combining both materials, with particular attention to synergistic and symbiotic effects; Study process parameters affecting the recovery of sulfur, magnesium, potassium, and other valuable elements; Analyze, interpret, and synthesize experimental results to support process optimization; Contribute to the assessment of the environmental and sustainability performance of the developed processes; Prepare scientific publications, technical reports, and presentations; Candidate Profile: Required qualifications : PhD in chemical Engineering, biotechnology or related discipline. Proven experience in mineral characterization, liquid analysis and process development; Strong background in solution chemistry and bioprocessing; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong scientific writing and communication abilities in English; Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment. About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions. Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of all transformations to propose new original alternatives in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness, and sustainability. Job Description The CBS department at UM6P is seeking a highly motivated and qualified researcher for a Postdoctoral position in Hydrometallurgy with the common objective to develop sustainable recycling processes for separation and recovery of valuable and critical metals from various waste streams. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to advancing the department's research initiatives and supporting mission of research excellence and innovation. The work includes the design and experimental study of basic model as well as more applied systems. Position Overview: We are seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science with expertise in multi-omics data integration for health and precision medicine. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team developing AI-driven approaches to integrate and analyze genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and microbiome datasets to uncover biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and mechanistic insights into complex diseases. The project addresses critical challenges in personalized medicine, disease stratification, and multi-modal data fusion, enabling next-generation solutions in precision health and biomedical research. Scientific Challenges Addressed in the Position: Heterogeneity and high dimensionality of multi-omics data requiring advanced AI/ML methods for robust analysis and integration. Data sparsity, batch effects, and missing values across different omics layers and platforms. Cross-omics data fusion and representation learning for comprehensive systems biology modeling. Identification of causal relationships and biomarker discovery through integrative approaches. Time-series and longitudinal multi-omics data analysis for disease progression modeling. Explainability and interpretability of AI models to support clinical decision-making and regulatory compliance in healthcare settings. Scalability and computational efficiency in processing and integrating massive multi-omics datasets from clinical cohorts. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with demonstrated expertise in seawater desalination pretreatment, with a particular emphasis on the Membrane-Based Processes. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, optimization, and scale-up of advanced pretreatment solutions for seawater desalination. The selected candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research environment, characterized by a strong tradition of integrating fundamental research with applied engineering to deliver impactful, real-world solutions to pressing water challenges. Key Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for: Seawater monitoring and characterization: Planning and conducting periodic sampling campaigns of raw seawater, and monitoring its physicochemical and biological quality. Data analysis and modeling: Processing and analyzing seawater quality data and developing statistical and mathematical models to correlate feed-water characteristics with pretreatment performance. System design and laboratory experimentation: Designing, assembling, and operating a lab-scale Membrane-Based system for seawater pretreatment, including system configuration, optimization, and performance validation. Qualifications & Requirements: PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Water-Process Engineering, Membrane Materials and Processes, or a closely related discipline. Relevant experience in desalination and/or filtration systems, at laboratory, pilot, or industrial scale. A strong background in ceramic membrane materials and processes is a significant advantage. Mandatory hands-on experience with water treatment processes. Experience in water quality analysis for evaluating and monitoring the performance of water treatment systems. Proven experience in leading or contributing to research projects is highly desirable.
