Applications are now invited for the following post: Research Assistant Professor Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (Post Ref.: 25/312) Established in 2021, the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management is a department-level, research-focused unit which holds the Lingnan University-Sun Yat-sen University GBA Research Institute for Insurance and a Risk Management (LU-SYSU IRM). The Institute’s goal is to become a leading centre of excellence in research activities and talent trainings for the risk management and insurance industry in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and the Region. The Institute will also contribute to developing Hong Kong as a premier international insurance hub through its academic and practice-oriented research as well as other related activities such as organizing industry-oriented forums, hosting various conferences and symposiums for academics and practitioners, and conducting practice-oriented surveys. The Institute is looking for a Research Assistant Professor, who will primarily focus on conducting scholarly research and obtain external grants, teach undergraduate/ postgraduate courses and contribute to services. General Requirements Candidates should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification in a Risk and Insurance or related discipline for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. In addition, the candidates should demonstrate strong commitment to quality research activities. Ideally, the candidate would have relevant experience in recognized institutions and a sound track record in research, scholarly activities, publications in top-tier journals and competitive grants. Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) to engage in cutting-edge research on the development of omni-band wireless systems for 6G and beyond. The PDA will be jointly supervised by Elza Erkip, Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem and Murat Uysal. Principal Responsibilities The PDA will conduct research on the physical layer and MAC layer design for wireless systems, particularly across multiple spectrum bands. The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The PDA is expected to contribute to the intellectual property development through patent filings, as well as participating in international standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies, in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include: Strong background in wireless communication systems and networks Expertise in physical layer and MAC layer design for wireless systems Proven track record of publications in relevant IEEE journals and conferences In addition to the above qualifications, it is highly desirable that the candidate has prior research experience in one or more of the following research topics: Resource allocation for wireless networks Radio resource management and mobility management Cognitive radio or adaptive communication systems, including dynamic spectrum access, band selection  Heterogeneous network architectures, including terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks Deep learning for wireless communication problems, particularly in areas such as spectrum management, adaptive system design, or cognitive radio. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related fields from a recognized University. Industry certifications like OSCP, CISSP, or CEH are a plus. Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in security analyst, preferably with exposure to cybersecurity applications. Proven experience as a Certified Security Analyst or in a related role, with a strong understanding of industry best practices, cybersecurity frameworks, IoT Security, OT Security, and Mobile Security. Strong understanding of cryptography, including symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic primitives, protocols, and PQC. Experience with adversarial machine learning techniques and defenses. Clear understanding of information security principles and the cyber technology landscape. Ability to develop and enforce security policies, conduct security awareness training, and stay updated on emerging cyber threats and hacker methodologies. Experience in developing and enhancing frameworks or standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling cybersecurity incidents in different industries. Soft Skills & Mindset: Passionate about cybersecurity, technically hands-on, willing to learn, and curious about the inner workings of Enterprise/OT/Telecommunications technologies and exploiting their vulnerabilities. Strong interest in supporting research and academic projects, with the ability to adopt and manage new security technologies. Willingness to pursue professional certifications in cybersecurity governance, such as CISSP, OSCP, CSSP (Industry certifications are an added advantage). Actively participate in cybersecurity-related projects or organizations, such as CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team), ISACA, or ISC2.
