Vinnytsia National Technical University

Vinnytsia National Technical University was first formed as the General Technology faculty of Kyiv Institute of Food Technology. It then became the Vinnytsia branch in 1962, Ukraine’s seventh Polytechnic Institute in 1974, a State Technical University in 1994 and attained its current name and status in 2014.
It is based on a 25 hectare campus in Vinnytsia, 160 miles southwest of Ukraine’s national capital Kyiv. It became the first university in Ukraine to introduce a three-semester year, with the third semester intended for internships and work experience.
It has approximately 6,000 students, a quarter of them part-timers, distributed across eight faculties: computer control systems and automation, civil engineering, thermal power engineering and gas supply, power engineering, ecology and gas mechanics, information technology and computer engineering, machine building andtransport, radio engineering telecommunications and electronics, and instrument engineering, management and information security.

What we are looking for:

The  Vienna International School of Earth and Space Sciences (VISESS)  is soliciting applications for  VISESS Completion Grants  starting in summer semester 2026.

VISESS addresses societal challenges through inter- and trans-disciplinary academic research connecting the cosmos with planets and atmospheres including its environments and with the anthroposphere. We aim our students to become world-leading experts in either of these three branches while also confidently communicate and contribute across all three branches.

The VISESS Completion Grants aim to support VISESS doctoral students during the final phase of their doctoral studies to focus on the completion and submission of their thesis. VISESS doctoral students employed at the University of Vienna within the last six months before the start of the grant can apply for a three-month completion contract. Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration in the context of the successful completion of your thesis, which means:


	You finalise your dissertation according to your doctoral thesis agreement. We expect you to complete and submit your thesis at the end of the grant.
	You continue to participate in research, teaching, administration, (co-)supervision of students, examination activities, evaluation activities and in quality assurance as appropriate in the context of the successful completion of your thesis.


Requirements:


	You are enrolled in the doctoral programme of DSPL45 and a doctoral student member of VISESS who agreed to the Code of Good Practice.
	You have successfully passed your public presentation, submitted your dissertation agreement, and since then submitted your annual progress reports.
	You have shown active and regular participation in VISESS activities.
	You can provide a convincing statement that the completion and submission of your thesis can be expected at the end of the grant.
	You can provide a statement from your supervisory team on their commitment to support you in the final phase of your writing process.
	You have ensured that there is no other funding source available.

With a scenic campus of approximately 1 km2 on Hengqin island, UM has achieved significant progress in the past decade as evidenced by its rising international repute, state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, and the establishment of three State Key Laboratories in microelectronics, Chinese medical sciences, and internet of things for smart city. The Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in Visual Communication Design. According to the current plan, a Faculty of Design will be established at the new campus, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees programmes in Visual Communication Design.

Our newly established Visual Communication programme integrates design, technology, research, and is building a world-class team of designers, artists, and interdisciplinary scholars. The programme emphasizes: 1. Cutting-edge practices: motion design, 3D visualization, interactive media, immersive experience design, generative/AI design, and future-driven visual communication strategies; 2. Strong research orientation combined with practical, industry-relevant artistic creation; 3. Interdisciplinary exploration across art, design, technology, humanities, education, and emerging fields; 4. A global vision linking China and the world, and bridging tradition and the future. We are seeking internationally minded faculty with strong portfolios, innovative teaching, and a desire to co-create a forward-looking design school.

Qualifications

1. Doctoral degree in Visual Communication Design or related areas (or equivalent terminal degree with significant professional achievements); 2. A strong portfolio of design practice; 3. Demonstrated teaching experience at graduate or undergraduate level; 4. International exposure through study, work, exhibitions, or industry collaboration; 5. Proficiency in English; 6. Interdisciplinary or cross-cultural scholarship linking design with technology, humanities, or new media; 7. Expertise in one or more future-oriented areas is preferred: (i) Motion graphics and time-based media; (ii) 3D/CG visualization; (iii) XR/VR/AR; (iv) UI/UX and digital product design; (v) AI-assisted design; (vi) Creative coding/computational design; (vii) Data visualization and information systems; (viii) Immersive exhibition and spatial experience design; 8. Candidates with a commitment to building a young, ambitious programme and contributing to long-term strategic growth of the Faculty of Design will be especially valued.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty subject to the mutual agreement of the both parties.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. You will join the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity (CeSCoS), led by Professor Barbara Prainsack. This research group investigates how solidarity shapes social justice, institutional design, and policy interventions across a range of domains, using rigorous qualitative and theoretically grounded approaches. The Centre brings together pre- and post-doctoral researchers and fellows from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. You would be welcome to bring and pursue your own research interests within the team.

Your future tasks:

Participation in research, teaching and administration in the field of comparative policy analysis and qualitative methods as well as in the research group CeSCoS (Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Prainsack).

This involves, in particular, the participation in the organisation of events, seminars, and other formats of academic collaboration and exchange:
