Our lab provides a diverse and international research environment dedicated to integrating multiple theoretical perspectives to address fundamental psychological questions in the field of motivation. Job description: We are looking for a collaborator with an interest and experience in investigating neural and psychophysiological processes of motivation, effort mobilization, and affective experience. Applicants should bring a sound knowledge of quantitative and experimental research methodology, statistics and experiment programming software, as well as excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Specifically, knowledge on the assessment and analyses of psychophysiological indicators of mental effort (PEP, SBP) and affective experience (fEMG) is required. Tasks include scientific research and teaching in the field of motivation psychology, as well as administrative tasks at the department and faculty, and the management of a psychophysiology lab. Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will support the research and implementation of a large-scale mental health and well-being project for primary schools in Hong Kong under the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences. For the Senior Research Assistant post, applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline plus 3 years’ research experience since the award of the first degree; or a research Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline plus 1 year’s post-qualification research experience.  The appointee should possess: A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Strong research skills in Psychology or Social Sciences. Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Jamovi, or R), as well as MS Excel and Chinese typing. Experience in the implementation of community or educational research projects will be an advantage. What We Offer The appointment will commence in September 2026, on a two-year fixed-term basis for the Senior Research Assistant, and on a two-year temporary term for the Post-doctoral Fellow, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
