The Valahia University of Targoviste was established in 1992 and since then has grown from two to eight faculties and offers over 31 higher education specialisms. The university is located in the small city of Targoviste, 50km northwest of Bucharest, Romania. The university has eight faculties offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, including economics; materials engineering and mechanics; electrical engineering, electronics and information technology; orthodox theology and educational science; environmental engineering and food science; political sciences, letters and communication; humanities; sciences and arts; and law and administrative sciences. Undergraduate courses are offered across all eight faculties. For those progressing from an undergraduate degree, Valahia University offers a range of master’s programmes including business law, environmental quality and the geographic risk phenomenon, didactic mathematics, and corporate management. For students wishing to continue their postgraduate studies after completing a master’s degree, there are six postgraduate doctorate programmes in accountancy, management, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and history.

Schemes of Service: Research Division: Engineering Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. We are seeking a motivated Research Engineer to join our team at a newly established Research Centre in Animal Feed, a facility dedicated to aquaculture and animal feed research, production, and capability development. The role is responsible for the reliable, safe, and efficient execution of feed research and production activities, and serves as a key enabler of service delivery, project execution, and capability transfer for the Centre. You will support the day-to-day running of feed production, testing, and development activities, while developing an end-to-end understanding of feed production, from formulation through to finished feed. This role is ideal for an engineer eager to gain hands-on experience in applied feed science and to help build operational excellence within a growing research environment. Key Responsibilities: Feed Mill Operations Ensure the uninterrupted and efficient operation of the feed mill. Plan and execute production runs for R&D, pilot, training, and service activities. Oversee formulation execution, extrusion, drying, coating, and quality control. Technical Excellence & Standards Establish and maintain operational standards for formulation, processing, and quality control. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, risk and regulatory requirements. Support the commissioning, validation, and optimisation of upgraded equipment. Conduct routine laboratory analyses (e.g. proximate analysis, basic quality checks). Support sample preparation and data generation for feed and ingredient testing. Maintain good laboratory practices and basic QA/QC procedures. People & Capability Development Provide hands-on leadership and mentoring to technical staff. Transfer operational know-how and best practices to build a competent team. Support the training and upskilling of staff involved in feed production. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Operational Integration Work closely with the Centre Director on production planning, resource allocation, and prioritisation. Support the Centre Director in the engagement of external parties. Support the smooth integration of feed mill operations within the Research Centre’s broader project and service portfolio. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisors. Job Requirements: Have relevant competence in feed production, processing, or a related technical field. Have a degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Aquaculture, Chemical/Process Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience in feed milling, extrusion processing, or laboratory analysis (e.g. proximate analysis, QA/QC) will be advantageous. Strong hands-on, problem-solving, and team-leadership skills will be advantageous.

Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support a set of projects on air pollution and environmental policy in the UAE and globally. These projects include measuring perceptions of and assessing knowledge about air quality, identifying and pursuing strategies to engage with policy makers on environmental issues, and extending efforts in data collection on and public engagement with air quality readings. The successful applicant will contribute to interdisciplinary research centered on these topics. The qualified candidate will have a Masters in the social sciences and experience working on quantitative analysis. This position requires excellent computational and data management skills. Our research staff have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on industry innovation research where you will support all aspects of the project to investigate neuroplasticity and recovery of movement quality after stroke using multimodal functional brain imaging and 3D human kinematics. This funded research brings together multidisciplinary expertise from Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Hospital (NUH), University of Glasgow (UOG), Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in the areas of Neuroscience, Psychology, Movement Science and Rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Prepare data collection forms/interview questions/questionnaire and recruit and/or interview subjects. Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary. Perform computational modelling and analysis of the neuroimaging and behavioural data, with guidance from senior colleagues as required. Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor. Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies, foundations and Ethics Committee review. Prepare progress reports for the PI and funding agency. Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations. Coordinate and attend project meetings, monitor the project budget and work on other projects and initiatives, as required. Conduct literature reviews for publications and research briefings. Contribute to the dissemination of research findings (e.g., journal, conference, book). Support and collaborate with research assistants, graduate and undergraduate students, where applicable. Work in a team, contribute to the identification of possible funding sources and/or the planning and development of externally funded research proposals in an area relevant to the project. Perform other research-related tasks as required by the Principal Investigator. Job Requirements A good degree in relevant discipline (e.g. experimental psychology, biopsychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, neurology, psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, physics or related fields). A PhD* (or equivalent research experience) in a relevant subject (only for Research Fellow position). Candidates with a non-healthcare degree are welcome to apply. Familiarity with image data analysis tools such as SPM, FSL, AFNI, and/or DSIStudio etc will be an advantage. Signal processing and programming skills (e.g. with Matlab, Python) will be an advantage. Ability to use statistical packages such as SPSS, R for statistical analyses and visualisation will be an advantage. Some research and/or clinical experience/interest in the area of stroke rehabilitation or care will be an advantage. Key Competencies Good scientific writing skills with relevant publications will be an advantage. Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of supporting research projects and bringing them to successful completion. Possesses sound judgment and superior decision-making and problem-solving skills.
