The Human Resources Department is seeking to appoint a Human Resources Officer – Service Centre & Communications Lead (HR Officer). The HR Officer will report to the Head of HR Partnering and be a member of the HR Partnering Pillar, providing support across all HR Pillars (Organisational Development, People Development, HR Partnering, HR Operations, and Employee Resourcing). The HR Officer will support the HR Service Centre to deliver across five core areas: General service, support, and engagement with the MU staff community Digital Content Internal Communications External Communications Technology & Transformation They will be responsible for maintaining and developing the supports and services offered through the HR Service Centre, including the staff intranet, the external HR website, employee engagement channels, and general staff support. As the physical and virtual front door to Human Resources, the HR Service Centre provides in‑person and virtual support, enabling staff self‑service and acting as the first point of contact for the University community. The HR Officer will ensure the in‑person service is staffed appropriately and will manage blended working arrangements within the Service Centre team. This role involves a broad remit with changing priorities in a busy environment. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience working in a busy team, strong organisational skills, flexibility, and experience managing projects and people. They will help ensure HR information is communicated clearly and accessibly to the MU community Salary Scale: Administrative Officer II (2026): €46,918 – €66,464 p.a. The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Mathematical Foundations of Computing Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is an advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Computer Science (CSE) program and possibly a sibling program dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as graduate courses in the Computer Science (MCS). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduct is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, comprising lectures on two to four modules from the following areas: Calculus Algebra Discrete Mathematics Statistics Theoretical Computer Science Applied Maths for CS Mathematical foundations of Machine Learning The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring Ph.D. students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to VGU's scientific profile through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in one or several of the following fields: optimization (including lost/cost functions, stochastics), statistics (including Bayes' theorem, sampling, cross-entropy loss), computational complexity & automata theory (including advanced algorithms, formal methods), and foundations of machine learning (including linear algebra and calculus). The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Computer Science Program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. Those in the final stages of their doctoral studies may also be considered, provided they demonstrate exceptional promise. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on derivatives & gradients, linear transformations, lost/cost functions, stochastics, computational complexity, logic, graph theory or other areas closely related to it Proven expertise in techniques for descriptive statistics, vectors & matrices and combinatorics Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research Experience in industry is of advantage Proven excellent English proficiency: Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Technician to join the newly-restructured Maintenance Services team at the University of Surrey. Working as part of a team responsible for the operational maintenance of University premises, you will be undertaking planned and reactive work on Mechanical systems to support the University’s infrastructure and environmental control systems across all our premises, ensuring that they are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional order. You'll be required to support our current day pattern of 08.00 – 16.12 Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities include: Maintain all Mechanical systems, including statutory inspection and testing where required, to meet current legislative requirements. Ensure failing plant or assets are reported to the Helpdesk and plant areas are maintained in good condition. Deliver an effective and timely response to maintenance demands across the University in a timely and cost-effective manner. Ensure compliance with all University Health and Safety and Environmental systems and procedures, and take an active part in the development of these policies Ensure the use of equipment and materials in delivery of maintenance services are appropriate and meet current legislative standards. Keep up to date with Mechanical related legislation and developments, attending courses and passing all necessary exams to maintain professional accreditation. Carry out multi-skilled tasks, where relevant, such as (but not restricted to) Electrical isolation and fault finding, minor carpentry, redecoration repairs linked to maintenance work. Complete all administrative work associated with departmental management systems, including the completion of work records, timesheets, stores issues, estimates and health & safety records. Utilise Building Logbook to record all maintenance visits and any relevant defective information and repairs. All defects to be reported immediately to the help desk for further action. You’ll need good planning, organising and prioritising skills, and will be expected to tackle more complex tasks, take on additional responsibilities and communicate effectively at a senior level.
