The Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture, Fergana was established in 2017. Located 165 miles from Tashkent, Fergana has a strategic position close to the border with Kyrgyzstan. Courses are available in theatre and film drama, musical theatre, puppet theatre, library and information, choreography, traditional song, organ, folk arts for children and in song and dance, and other production techniques. It publishes a Journal of Oriental Arts and Culture. Notable research projects have looked at the role of teachers in training actors and into Uzbek cultural traditions with a history of strong female contributions.

Join the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science in the ANU College of Systems and Society  Contribute to an international research project led by Dr Rini Astuti  About the opportunity This position is a fixed term for a period of 32 months to contribute to a new project led by Dr Rini Astuti, titled “Co-designing Multi-Value Frameworks for Transparent and Ethical Copper Supply Chains.” The project is funded by the Rio Tinto Centre for Future Materials (RTCFM). The RTCFM is led by Imperial College London with 4 global university partners including University of California Berkeley (USA), University of British Columbia (Canada), University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and the ANU as the Australian partner. The purpose of the CFFM is to undertake transdisciplinary collaborative research to transform how materials critical for the energy transition are produced, used and recycled.  You will undertake innovative research on the social dimensions of the energy transition, including its links to critical minerals. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in either Human Geography, Science and Technology Studies, Science Communication, Development Studies, Anthropology, Environment and Society, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline. About the School/Department The Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) has responsibility for teaching, research, public policy and outreach in the field of Science Communication.  It is Australia’s largest and leading Centre in the discipline and has existing and emerging partnerships across Australia and internationally.  CPAS works with a broad definition of science (including STEM) and science communication to include public engagement, transdisciplinary research for sustainability, responsible innovation, the science/policy interface, and the epistemic, ethical and social aspects of research and technological change. Where you will be: The position is hosted by the research group Computational and Soft Matter Physics at the Faculty of Physics in the group of Dr. Andreas Zöttl. About the project: ChirTrans investigates how chirality of swimming bacteria determines their active transport processes in complex microstructured heterogeneous environments and in complex shear flows. It combines computational and theoretical modeling at the University of Vienna with experiments performed at ESPCI Paris. Our previous work demonstrated the importance of bacterial chirality in transport in simple microchannel flows and near plane surfaces. ChirTrans now aims to uncover how chirality impacts bacterial transport in more complex microstructured environments. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to internationally visible, frontier research. You will have the chance to help build and shape a high-impact interdisciplinary research group while working on your own research. Your responsibilities: As a Postdoctoral Researcher you will: Conduct independent and collaborative research on computational modeling and simulation of bacterial dynamics using coarse-grained hydrodynamic modeling (Brownian Dynamics, Multiparticle Collision Dynamics, etc) Contribute to and lead academic publications in top-tier journals Collaborate closely with experimental collaboration partner at ESPCI Paris led by Prof. Anke Lindner Present research outcomes at international conferences You may contribute to teaching activities depending on interest and availability, in which case you participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
