Uttara University

Established in 2003, Uttara University is a private institution located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was founded under the Dr M Azizur Rahman Trust and relocated to its modern permanent campus in Greater Uttara in July 2023.

Description

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The position will be directly supervised by Professor Mostafa Mobasher and will involve strong collaboration with the SHORES multidisciplinary research teams.

The project will be focused on advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage of geomechanical materials when subjected a range of multiphysical loading regimes including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The direct applications of these research will be aimed at enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration. The project activities will involve the development of the theory and implementation of the advanced mechanics and numerical models as well as constitutive model calibration and validation based on physical experimental data.

Required Qualifications:

A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of computational mechanics and computational geomechanics.

Preferred Qualifications:


	Experience in the following areas is preferred:
	Experience in modeling geomechanical systems
	Experience in modeling hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration
	Experience in Multiphysics modeling in solid mechanics framework
	Experience in non-linear solid material response and fracture modeling
	Experience in machine-learning modeling for solid mechanics applications
	Experience in the development and coupling of numerical methods for solid mechanics modeling
	Experience in digital rock technology, including advanced imaging and related analysis
	Experience in the performance of high pressure and temperature triaxial tests
	Experience in experimental rock mechanics

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Florian Möslein has accepted a post at the University of Vienna with effect from 1 May 2026. As a Praedoc University Assistant, you will support him as part of his team in establishing his chair and take on tasks such as assisting with research and administration, as well as contributing to teaching activities.

You will play an active role in administration, research and teaching, which means:

	An above-average Master's or Diploma degree in Law or a related social science or humanities discipline (e.g. political science, philosophy, sociology) with a strong substantive focus on legal and regulatory issues relating to digital transformation
	Demonstrable expertise in European digitalisation law and related fields such as EU digital and data policy, digital governance, or the regulation of AI and digital services
	Demonstrable interest in international and interdisciplinary research, preferably in legal issues relating to European digital policy
	Experience in acquiring and/or conducting research projects is desirable
	Initial publication activity and experience of participating in academic conferences
	Excellent command of German and English (C1) and knowledge of at least one other foreign language

The Research Center on Stability, Instability and Turbulence (SITE) a center of the Research Institute, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work in the fluid mechanics laboratory for experimental fluid dynamics. 

SITE is inviting applications for fully-funded postdoctoral research associate positions. SITE is highly interdisciplinary and aims to develop novel enabling technology on hydrodynamic stability analysis that has applications in the study of the development of singularities, the long-time behavior of complex systems, the formation of spatial patterns, the transition between stability and instability, and the first steps of transition towards turbulence that appear in several disciplines across science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and innovation.

Candidates must hold (or be close to completing) a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Applied Physics or a related field. Working in a newly established fluid dynamics laboratory at NYU Abu Dhabi, candidates are expected to have a strong interest in experimental research and collaborate with applied mathematicians closely. PhD holders with a solid publication record and aims for an academic career are encouraged to apply.

The GS also offers postgraduate programmes up to doctoral level in various disciplines and provides professional education for the wider society.
