Utsunomiya University is a Japanese public university set up in 1949 by integrating three institutions - Utsunomiya Agricultural and Forestry College, Tochigi Normal School and Tochigi Normal School for Youth. Utsunomiya is one of the best technological universities in Japan.

You can do an undergraduate degree within the Faculty of International Studies, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Engineering (in Yoto Campus) or the Faculty of Agriculture.

Some of the university's best known research is in optics and weed science. One of its professors, Dr Yoneyama was awarded the international Thomson Reuters Research Front Award, which prizes achievements in emerging research areas, for having discovered a new class of plant hormones. Utsunomiya University’s research institutes include Center for Education and Research of Community Collaboration, Center for Weed and Wildlife Management, Media Network Center, Center for International Exchange, Collaboration Center for Research and Development, Center for Bioscience Research & Education(C-Bio), Center for Career Education and Services, Liberal and General Education Center, Center for Optical Research & Education (CORE), Center for Teacher Education, Center for the Multicultural Public Sphere(CMPS), Innovation Center for Research and Engineering Education, as well as a university farm and forest.

This includes supporting charter award applications and related processes, including Athena SWAN, Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index and other equality frameworks, through evidence gathering, action tracking, project documentation and routine progress monitoring. The role will also signpost colleagues to agreed guidance, resources and processes, and escalating complex, sensitive or strategic matters to senior OIE colleagues as appropriate. The role will also support the delivery of activities that contribute to an inclusive and equitable working and learning culture by assisting with communications, resources, events, campaigns and project administration that promote equality, diversity and inclusion for staff and students. About You The ideal candidate will lead on institution-wide EDI projects within the OIE, support charter award applications and processes. You will have strong interpersonal skills, and if you are able to accurately and articulately deliver complex information in simple terms, then this role is for you. Review and work collaboratively to action key findings from Athena Swan Action Plan as well as other action plans arising from the other charters. Introduction As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Scientific Authoring & Publication: Drive the creation of high-quality research papers for top-tier peer-reviewed venues (e.g., CHI, UIST, CSCW), translating complex technical architectures and study results into compelling academic narratives. Ethical Oversight & IRB Management: Manage the formal Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, ensuring all protocols, data handling, and participant interactions meet the highest ethical and legal standards for human-subjects research.
