The Leverhulme Centre for Algorithmic Life is a major new interdisciplinary research hub dedicated to the study of how machine learning and AI algorithms are transforming societies. The Centre is supported by £10 million in funding from the , for ten years, awarded through its 2025 Research Centre competition. The Leverhulme Centre for Algorithmic Life seeks to appoint up to seven talented researchers and scholars to the role of Assistant Professor (Research) for a period of 36 months to work on one or more of our four thematic programmes. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  Key Responsibilities:  Plan and conduct wet chemistry experiments and functional mRNA tests, changing parameters according to the requirements of the established Design of Experiments  Detailed and careful experimentalist, able to capture critical details  Conduct individual projects with minimal supervision and drive to completion  Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met  Show strong initiative and take ownership of research work for publication.  Document, publish and present research findings to project stakeholders  Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.  Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers  The candidate is to liaise and communicate with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met and to perform any other adhoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Requirements (Expertise, Qualification and Experience):  Synthetic chemistry/biology (2-3 years experience in wet chemistry labs is ideal, experience in organic synthetic methods, inorganic or synthetic biology, formulations)  Pharmaceutical/Bio engineering (calculations, design of experiment, handling of mRNA)  Have a degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Engineering or closely related disciplines. Possessing a PhD degree will be advantageous.  Analytical chemistry (experience with chromatographic methods, particularly LC and hyphenated methods would be advantageous)  Strong experimentation skills and theoretical knowledge in chemistry, pharmaceutical/bio engineering  Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE)  Able to work independently as well as maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university  Show strong initiative and sense of responsibility  Proficient in technical writing and presentation  Possess a high degree of self-motivation and curiosity in technical pursuits, with the ability to develop original ideas 

Description The Center for Behavioral Institutional Design, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit several postdoctoral researchers interested in exploring the origins of human behavioral diversity, developing empirically-informed models of human behavior, and designing innovative institutions and policies for promoting social welfare. C-BID offers a vibrant and stimulating research environment, with opportunities to engage in high-impact projects and collaborations. The ideal candidate is highly ambitious, well-trained, self-motivated, hard-working, equally capable of working alone and as part of a team, and holds a PhD in economics or a related field. The position requires expertise in either experimental, empirical, or theoretical methods or, ideally, a combination of these methods. Excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential. Successful applicants are expected to publish research in leading peer-reviewed journals in social science or leading interdisciplinary journals, and work both individually and in close collaboration with the C-BID team: Olivier Bochet, Nikos Nikiforakis, and John Wooders. The position provides a salary higher than internationally competitive rates for postdoctoral research positions, in addition to substantial benefits (generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children), together with full health insurance and retirement contributions. The UAE does not levy income tax. Appointments will be for two years, renewable for at least one additional year conditional on a satisfactory evaluation of performance.
