Candidates must have a PhD degree in related discipline, and an extensive track record in the development and delivery of teaching units with proven ability to provide effective leadership and management of groups and teaching activities. Proven ability with demonstrated success in obtaining sources of funding, previous experience of successfully supervising PhD students to completion, and excellent communication and presentation skills in English are essential.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 635,038 to RMB 780,622 per annum, depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of three years starting February 2026 or as soon as thereafter. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in IC Design and Computer Architecture. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. Teaching Responsibilities

In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the Master's program in Computer Science (MCS) and undergraduate courses in the Bachelor's program in Computer Science (CSE). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes).

Research Responsibilities

We expect the successful candidate, as a faculty member of a research-oriented university, to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of computer-aided design of ICs & systems, verification, simulation, system on chip and AI in IC design. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable.

Administrative responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Computer Science program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies.

Qualification

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include:


	An outstanding academic record with a focus on IC design and system on chip or other areas closely related to it
	Proven expertise in design for testability, verification techniques, gate array, design partitioning and SoC integration of components
	Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area
	Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research
	Experience in industry is of advantage

Department of Chinese History and Culture 

The Department of Chinese History and Culture is an academic department within the Faculty of Humanities.  Its mission is to offer high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that provide interdisciplinary training in the study of Chinese history and culture.  Currently, the Department offers PhD and MPhil programmes, a taught-master degree programme, a major degree programme in Chinese History and Culture, two minor degree programmes in Chinese History and Culture and History of Science and Technology in China, respectively, and university-wide general education courses. The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas.

You will join the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity (CeSCoS), led by Professor Barbara Prainsack. This research group investigates how solidarity shapes social justice, institutional design, and policy interventions across a range of domains, using rigorous qualitative and theoretically grounded approaches. The Centre brings together pre- and post-doctoral researchers and fellows from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. You would be welcome to bring and pursue your own research interests within the team.

Your future tasks:

Participation in research, teaching and administration in the field of comparative policy analysis and qualitative methods as well as in the research group CeSCoS (Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Prainsack).
