Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will work on a cross-institutional project dedicated to supporting primary students in Hong Kong to learn Chinese, and to enhance their use of Chinese as a medium of learning. Reporting to the Project Leader, he/she will assist Project Team Heads in managing the development and operation of the project. Key responsibilities include liaising with the project funder, other project partners, project schools and teachers, arranging school visits, organising dissemination activities, monitoring project progress, and handling other logistical aspects of project implementation, such as human resources, finance, etc.; and other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). Essential Requirements Applicants should possess at least a Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in Education or related field with at least 10 years of work experience in the local education sector. This should include expertise in educational research, project management, school and curriculum development, teacher training, and catering for learning diversity. Candidates should have an excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including fluency in Cantonese); strong leadership, management, interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills; and the ability to multitask and work independently as well as in a team. They must demonstrate excellent time management and analytical thinking skills, while being proactive, responsible, collegial, and attentive to details. Desirable Attributes Applicants with teacher qualification, prior experience working with local schools, proven ability in project implementation and evaluation, and expertise in managing promotion and dissemination initiatives will be considered an advantage. What We Offer The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence on August 15, 2026, with the possibility of renewal. The positions Up to three post-doctoral positions are available at the University of Helsinki, Finland working in the research groups of Prof. Craig Primmer and Dr. Tutku Aykanat (http://www.helsinki.fi/evolution-conservation-and-genomics ) as a part of several related research consortia funded by the Research Council of Finland, the Kone Foundation and the ERC, with a focus on using the well studied Teno Atlantic salmon system as a model for adaptive management to assess biological and societal effects of recent anthropogenic changes on the Atlantic salmon metapopulation, alongside a detailed genetic and ecological evaluation of Pink salmon invasion in the river basin and the greater region. Successful applicants will likely have a strong background in research related to at least one of the themes listed below, but the specific combination of expertise is flexible, with the overall composition of the team being most important. Effects of management and ecosystem-related changes on salmon life-history phenotype and genotypes Evolutionary genomic approaches for assessing the effects of recent fishing management changes and invasive Pink salmon abundance on life-history phenotypes and genotypes. Relevant consortium publications: Erkinaro et al. 2019; Czorlich et al. 2018, 2022 Assessing sex-specific natural selection effects at key life-history loci due to anthropogenic and environmental factors Use of long- term data on Teno salmon reproductive fitness to assess potential sex-specific effects of recent fishing management changes and invasive Pink salmon abundance selection on Atlantic salmon life-history traits Relevant consortium publications: Czorlich et al. 2018; Mobley et al. 2019, 2020, 2024 Pink salmon genetics: determining the genetic basis of successful invasion Use of long-term scale material to identify genomic regions and structural variation potentially associated with higher invasion success. Job Purpose Research Fellow (Connector) work with industry partners to co-create commercially viable solutions in healthcare innovation. The School of Veterinary Medicine currently holds over £7m in external research support for animal and human microbiome projects. A vibrant and collaborative community of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students are currently working on microbiome projects ranging from in vitro studies of antimicrobial resistance to helminth and parasiticide interactions with the microbiome to early-life microbiome of foals. In-house technologies supported by the University include both Illumina and nanopore sequencing platforms, Luminex-read multiplex immunoassay of cytokines, Biolog metabolic fingerprinting and aerobic/anaerobic culturomics. Data processing and analysis is supported by the University’s Bioinformatics Core Facility.
