The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies or UPES is a private university located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. Established in 2003, UPES was the first Indian university to offer courses in the energy sector and has since become a leading institution in the fields of petroleum, energy, and allied sectors.
UPES offers many bachelor's degree programmes in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, data science, law, design, and business administration.
Graduate students have the opportunity to study in several fields including physics, chemistry, mathematics, law, engineering, management, business, microbiology, design and pharmaceuticals.
The university has formed relationships with a range of businesses including Microsoft, IBM, hubhopper and more.
UPES offers health and medical services including an infirmary, medical insurance and counselling. Students can also join clubs and extra-curricular activities including local adventure sports, including paragliding, river rafting, bungee jumping, and ice skating.
