Job Description COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), offering full-time Associate Degree (AD), Higher Diploma (HD) and Undergraduate (UG) Honours Degree Programmes at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. It is a major education providing unit of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the Faculties/Schools of HKBU. CIE currently enrolls over 3,500 students and is committed to the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage. English is used as the medium of instruction at the College. Applications are now invited for the following position: Lecturer II / Assistant Lecturer in Cultural Studies, Creative Industries and Cultural Management (25260670) We are seeking a committed and qualified Lecturer II/Assistant Lecturer to join our academic team.  Responsibilities: Teaching and Curriculum Development Teach courses in areas such as cultural management, creative industries, arts administration, cultural studies, and related subjects; Develop and revise course materials that integrate industry practice with critical cultural theory; Supervise student projects, including honors projects, internships, and industry-based assignments; and Contribute to programme review and enhancement in alignment with evolving industry trends. Industry Engagement and Networking Leverage industry connections and facilitate partnerships with relevant stakeholders to create internship, mentorship, and collaborative opportunities for students; and Support students’ career development within cultural and creative sectors. Academic and Administrative Duties Participate in programme administration and quality assurance processes; Contribute to student advising and academic mentorship; and Engage in service activities at programme, school, or institutional levels as required. Requirements: A recognised master’s degree or above in Cultural Studies, Cultural Management, Arts Administration, Creative Industries, or a closely related field. A doctoral degree is preferred; Substantial professional experience in cultural management, curatorial practice, arts administration, creative entrepreneurship, or related sectors. A demonstrated track record of industry collaboration and a well-established professional network in cultural and creative fields will be an advantage; Proven teaching experience in Cultural Studies, Creative Industries, Arts and Cultural Management, or closely related subjects at tertiary level; A strong commitment to student-centred teaching and experiential learning; and A track record of high-quality research outputs clearly linked to the teaching expertise outlined in the description of the full-time position. Applicants must show dedication and strong commitment in teaching and education within and beyond the classroom. They must also be a good team player with excellent communication skills. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Lecturer. Reference salary range:  Lecturer II : HK$38,000 - HK$53,000 Assistant Lecturer : HK$30,000 - HK$39,000 The appointee will work at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus.  The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in August 2027. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Assistant Professor in Data Science / Statistics to join our growing academic team at the University’s Mumbai Enterprise Campus (MEC), a flagship transnational education initiative of the University of Bristol set to open its doors in 2026, coinciding with the University’s 150th anniversary. The role will contribute to curriculum and research development, and strengthen the University’s academic reputation through teaching, innovation, high-impact research, and external engagement. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality teaching, lead independent research initiatives, and support the broader academic and administrative development of the department. The role will report to the Professor / Associate Professor and have dotted lines reporting and collaboration to a senior academic in Head of School of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science and Engineering (S&E). This position offers a platform for career advancement, including the potential for progression to Associate Professor based on performance and institutional contribution. Key Responsibilities Leadership, Culture, and Engagement Participate in faculty committees, academic events, student recruitment, and quality assurance processes. Contribute to institutional development and participating in training and capacity-building initiatives. Build industry and/or academic partnerships that enhance the University’s visibility and engagement with external stakeholders. Work collaboratively with Professional Services partners to deliver delegated administrative and governance duties. Teaching Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses ranging from mathematical statistics and machine learning to coding and algorithmics. Contribute to curriculum development initiatives and contribute to academic programme design in collaboration with senior colleagues and faculty teams. Contribute and promote innovative teaching strategies that improve student experience, transferable skills creation and employability prospects. Play a role in curriculum development and contextualisation, programme accreditation, programme enhancement and the maintenance of quality assurance standards within the university. Research Supervise student research projects, theses, and internships, providing academic guidance and mentoring. Build an excellent record of high-quality publications in reputable, peer-reviewed academic journals, or recognised discipline-specific outputs, actively contributing to the international discourse in Data Science / Statistics. Pursue research funding and build interdisciplinary collaborations across the university network. Essential Criteria A completed PhD in mathematical statistics and data science. Evidence of ability to teach to a very high standard at undergraduate and postgraduate levels An emerging track record of high-quality scholarly research, with potential to publish in highly ranked journals. Evidence of excellent organisational and administrative skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and collaborative skills. Demonstrates a proactive approach to professional development. Strong programming expertise. Proven experience in machine learning and data science. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) programme aims to develop strategic and innovative design capabilities for the maritime industry in Singapore and globally. Within this programme, Work Package WP2.2 focuses on research in several key areas: design Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), functional FMECA, advanced sensing techniques, sensor and operational data fusion, data analytics, and machine learning algorithms for condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and early fault prediction in electric vessels. The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to research in design FMECA, functional FMECA, and ship sensing, as part of the WP2.2 research team within the FSSD programme. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team members to manage and execute the project, ensuring that all deliverables are successfully achieved.  Key responsibilities in this project include: Developing an FMECA analysis solution that integrates condition monitoring data to update actual failure modes, effects, and severity assessments. Designing and conducting experiments to simulate various ship fault conditions, implementing sensing for data collection, and developing an equipment health monitoring system. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. The Research staff is to liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties as assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Have relevant knowledge in the areas of shipboard system design, FMECA and reliability analysis. Have a degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of sensing, FMECA, equipment health management and programming will be advantageous. Knowledge of intelligent decision agents based on graph neural network or similar will an advantage. Key Competencies Good knowledge in reliability analysis. Experience in FMECA and equipment health management will be advantageous. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work. Major Challenges Integrating Multidisciplinary Knowledge The role requires expertise across multiple domains—FMECA, sensing technologies, data fusion, data analytics, and machine learning. Combining these diverse skill sets to develop a unified and reliable solution can be technically demanding. Complexity of Ship Systems Ship systems are large-scale, interconnected, and subject to complex operating conditions. Accurately modelling failure modes, effects, and criticality requires deep domain knowledge and careful analysis. Collecting High-Quality Sensor Data. Simulating Realistic Fault Conditions.
