The University of Turin was founded in 1404 by Prince Ludovico di Savoia, which makes it one of the oldest European universities. 

The university’s buildings are spread out across Turin. Their architecture ranges from the baroque Palazza del Rettorato to contemporary glasswork. The university also owns botanical gardens set up in the 18th century and museums such as The Museum of Human Anatomy Luigi Rolando, Museum of Criminal Anthropology Cesare Lombroso and Fruit Museum Francesco Garnier Valletti, which are amongst Turin’s favourite (niche) touristic attractions. 

The University of Turin has 27 departments and four doctoral schools. Although most teaching is in Italian, an increasing number of courses gets taught in English. The university is famous for traditional subjects such as history, philosophy, law, economics and medicine but it is also considered to have one of the best management and economics schools in the country, and is investing into expanding newer areas of research and teaching.

In recent years, the institution has pursued integrated research with universities in the EU and developing countries. 

Notable alumni include Noble Prize-winners Rita Levi-Montalcini, Renato Dulbecco and Salvador Luria, author, philosopher and semiotician Umberto Eco, comedy actress and humour writer Luciana Littizzetto, investigative journalist Marco Travaglio, Fiat's former head Gianni Agnelli, columnist and professor of international law Ugo Mattei, poet Cesare Pavese and even the enlightenment luminary Desiderius Erasmus. 

As a city, Turin has a rich cultural life, hosting the biggest book fair in Italy in May every year and international contemporary art fairs in November, alongside jazz, film and performance arts festivals throughout the year.

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is pleased to announce the opening for up to two full-time academic positions (Teaching and Research stream) in Veterinary Anesthesiology. For candidates with an interest in research, UCVM has enviable access and existing collaborations with the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed upon date. The positions require a DVM (or equivalent). Board certification (DACVAA and/or Dipl. ECVAA) is preferred, but board-eligible ACVAA or ECVAA residency-trained candidates, or a candidate holding a PhD in veterinary anesthesiology, will be considered. An additional graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor normally requires evidence or promise of original high-quality research and scholarship and future development as a scholar. Evidence or promise of the ability to obtain funding may also be required where appropriate. Evidence or promise of teaching proficiency or professional activity may also be required. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires evidence of an established academic program of a caliber equivalent to national recognition by peers. It is expected that a record of high-quality research and scholarship suitable to the discipline or field has been achieved. Evidence of ability to obtain funding to sustain a research program is required. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and expertise, including a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses, design learning experiences may be required. A satisfactory record of and active involvement in university, professional or community service is expected. UCVM employs a Distributed Veterinary Teaching Hospital model. Clinical time may be assigned in clinics in the community. If clinical time is assigned, opportunities are wide and varied and the successful candidate will be given guidance and support in establishing relationships with local clinics, based on desires and opportunities available. UCVM's AVMA accredited DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 100 students per year. UCVM is a research-intensive faculty with expanding research, graduate education, and advanced clinical trainee programs. About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, in particular on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions. Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at developing in-depth understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying all chemical transformations in order to propose original, and innovative alternatives promoting efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainability. Job Description As a core component of UM6P, the CBS Department aspires to lead research and teaching at the forefront of innovation. Our scope encompasses green and environmental chemistry across diverse domains: organic and inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, chemical and biochemical processes, and thermal reactions. Research endeavors at CBS blend deep molecular insights with practical applications, aiming to introduce novel, efficient, and sustainable alternatives. CBS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our faculty as an Assistant- Professor in Hydrometallurgy, e.g., hydrometallurgical recovery of resources. The successful candidate will have a special responsibility for teaching chemical engineering and performing research within hydrometallurgical recovery of critical raw materials, based on a circular and sustainable perspective.
