The University of Stavanger is located in Stavanger, Norway and was established in 2005. Stavanger is Norway’s fourth-largest city located on the southwest coast of the country.

There are over 300 study programmes and over 1,800 courses offered at The University of Stavanger, ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate levels across six main faculties. These faculties include science and technology, performing arts, social sciences, educational sciences and humanities, University of Stavanger Business School, and health sciences.

Postgraduate courses come in the form of a diploma, master's, or PhD and can be taken full or part-time lasting from one-four years. Postgraduate courses include social work and welfare, music performance, applied data science, prehospital critical care and many more.

The university also offers inbound and outbound international exchange programmes to students, allowing them to explore new cultures, learn in a new environment, travel and meet new people. It can be taken for one or two terms, and past students have travelled to Italy, Finland, the United States, Australia, South Korea, and the UK.

Students can visit the city’s historic and colourful wharf houses that light up the city, known by locals as "Fargegata", the colour street. The oldest part of the city, Gamle Stavanger, has a range of galleries, independent shops, and traditional wooden houses.
