Founded in 1885, the University of St. Thomas is a Catholic affiliated liberal arts university based in St. Paul and Minneapolis, between Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Twin Cities can be a great place for students to live and study, offering both a wide range of cultural locations such as the Walker Art Centre and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and internship opportunities in areas such as advertising, communications, and business development.

There are more than 90 undergraduate and 60 graduate programs at St. Thomas, between the colleges of Arts & Sciences, Education, Business, Divinity, Engineering, Law, and Social Work. An initiative of the Theology department, the Muslim-Christian Dialogue Centre is dedicated to fostering relations with communities, and works closely with Phillips Centre for Interfaith Learning. Also at St. Thomas is the Maths Resource Centre, Centre for Economic Education, and the Veritas Institute, which carries the mission statement of ‘advancing the common good through positive social impact’.

Athletics teams at St. Thomas are known as Tommies with a mascot of the Tomcat, and compete in the NCAA Division III. There are a total of twenty sports programmes, including basketball, golf, and soccer. American football games are played at O’Shaughnessy Stadium, and are also broadcast over local radio.

Graduates of St. Thomas include game designer Larry Bond, actor T. R. Knight, activist and international lawyer Semhar Araia, and long-serving congressman Jim Oberstar.

There is a strong tradition of Catholic led education in the area, with women’s college St. Catherine University located nearby. The university is not to be confused with the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Job Purpose At SIT's Professional Officers Division, we bring our rich industry experience and technical skills into our work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place. We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and to strengthen & energise our industry and the wider community. A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: participate in and manage innovation projects, manage digital technology related resources, and mentor & facilitate student learning. The Centre for Digital Enablement (CoDE) drives the initiatives to elevate digital competencies for academic staff and students within SIT. It works with various stakeholders, both internal and external, in upskilling digital literacy across the organization through literacy programmes and digital innovation projects in relation to the Digital Learning Spaces (DLS). For this role, you will spearhead the various cybersecurity enablement programmes in SIT, manage the cybersecurity related resources and initiatives within CoDE, and lead cybersecurity projects within SIT and with industry partners to support teaching and learning objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy courses to undergraduate students and academic staff as part of the institutional drive to ensure our graduates are ready for a highly digitally-enabled workforce. Additionally, you’ll be required to mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Key Responsibilities Cybersecurity Enablement Programmes Develop and own the Cybersecurity Competency Roadmap, providing guidance for SIT undergraduate students and academic staff in developing their cybersecurity competencies. Lead and oversee a range of cybersecurity enablement programmes to facilitate the growth of information security skills among SIT undergraduate students and academic staff. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cybersecurity, ensuring the continued relevancy and currency of the enablement programmes and Cybersecurity Competency Roadmap. Cybersecurity Projects Drive the adoption of sound information security practices across all CoDE projects. Collaborate with industry partners, faculty, Professional Officers and other stakeholders to conduct applied research in cybersecurity related technologies. Teaching & Student Mentorship Develop and deliver digital skills literacy related courses or workshops to undergraduate students and staff. This includes development of learning contents and activities, providing consultations on digital skills/technology related queries, and assessment and grading of students’ work. Mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Any other matters as directed by Director/Deputy Director of CoDE. Job Requirements A good degree in Computer Science or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. 10+ years of working experience, including at least 5 in cybersecurity related fields. Proven experience in developing and deploying secure enterprise software solutions. Good programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, etc. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Possess strong supervisory and project management skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure that the project can meet the milestones adhering to the stipulated timeline. Enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs.

Responsibilities Provide information materials and consultation on studying abroad, exchange programs, funding, and scholarships. Assist in application and selection processes for international programs in coordination with Academic Affairs. Manage application procedures, coordinate nomination processes, and support students in preparing required documents for double-degree or other exchange programs. Coordinate with partner universities, and academic departments/faculties to create Learning Agreements and ensure credit transfer and academic recognition. Support double-degree programs in Germany and assist students with APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) procedures. Provide visa and travel assistance for outgoing students, including communication with the German Consulate in Guangzhou.
