The University of South Florida is a public research university located in Florida, United States. It was founded in 1956. It is one of 12 members of the State University System of Florida
It is a consolidation of three campuses located in Tampa, St Petersburg and Sarasota. The Tampa campus is considered the main university campus.
The university offers bachelors degree programmes, masters degree programmes, 49 doctoral degree programmes, and two specialist degree programs across 14 colleges. These colleges include arts and sciences, business, education, engineering, marine science, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and public health among others.
There are more than 50,000 students that study across the three campuses, representing more than 145 countries.
There are more than 600 student organisations including Greek, special interest, recreational and multicultural societies. The Marshall Student Centre is a space for students on campus which hosts events and has food and dining outlets, a gaming lounge, shops and study and meeting spaces. Students can also get involved with the students government and leadership anc civic engagement. There is also a student-run newspaper called the The Oracle.
