The University of Sindh, also known as Sindh University, is a public research university in Pakistan located in the city of Jamshoro. It is among the oldest universities in Pakistan. The university was established in 1947 and since then has been offering courses across various disciplines through the faculties of natural sciences, social sciences, arts, education, Islamic studies, commerce and business administration. The university has two major campuses and seven others spread across Sindh. The campuses host modern amenities including indoor gaming facilities, cultural museum, central library, residential halls and a sports facility exclusively for women. The University of Sindh is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of the United Kingdom, and has forged academic partnerships with leading universities like the University of Durham, the University of Manchester, the University of Sussex, the University of Essex, the University of Leicester, and University of Nottingham. It organises several student and faculty exchange programs throughout the year to enrich the learning experience of its students. Sindh University is renowned for its research in literature, natural sciences, philosophy, and Sindhology.

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Mathematical Foundations of Computing Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is an advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Computer Science (CSE) program and possibly a sibling program dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as graduate courses in the Computer Science (MCS). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduct is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, comprising lectures on two to four modules from the following areas: Calculus Algebra Discrete Mathematics Statistics Theoretical Computer Science Applied Maths for CS Mathematical foundations of Machine Learning The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring Ph.D. students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to VGU's scientific profile through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in one or several of the following fields: optimization (including lost/cost functions, stochastics), statistics (including Bayes' theorem, sampling, cross-entropy loss), computational complexity & automata theory (including advanced algorithms, formal methods), and foundations of machine learning (including linear algebra and calculus). The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Computer Science Program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. Those in the final stages of their doctoral studies may also be considered, provided they demonstrate exceptional promise. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on derivatives & gradients, linear transformations, lost/cost functions, stochastics, computational complexity, logic, graph theory or other areas closely related to it Proven expertise in techniques for descriptive statistics, vectors & matrices and combinatorics Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research  Experience in industry is of advantage Proven excellent English proficiency: Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. Alternatively, candidates who do not hold a valid English proficiency certificate at the submission time need to be internally assessed at VGU to meet the criterion stated above. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict).
