About the role

The Senior Advisor, Vocational Education Policy & Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of RMIT's College of Vocational Education. Reporting to the Director, Governance & Strategic Initiatives, you will provide strategic policy advice, lead key initiatives, and strengthen the College's engagement with government and external stakeholders.

You will analyse emerging policy and reform across the vocational education sector, prepare high-quality submissions, executive briefings and reports, and provide evidence-based advice to support strategic decision-making. You will also identify opportunities to enhance the College's external impact and influence through effective policy and stakeholder engagement.

Working closely with the Director, you will support the College's governance, reporting and risk functions, coordinating high-quality papers and submissions for University committees and executive forums. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic thinking with operational delivery, requiring excellent judgement, collaboration and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this position, you will have:


	Strategic thinking capability, including the ability to position initiatives within a broader organisational and external context and identify connections across multiple priorities.
	Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex and ambiguous information into clear, evidence-based insights and recommendations.
	Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences using a range of methods, and to produce high-quality professional materials within tight timeframes.
	Ability to influence, build relationships and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders, including executives, government representatives and external partners.
	Proven experience in analysing policy and evidence to develop clear and credible policy positions, submissions and strategic advice.
	Ability to identify opportunities, design innovative approaches and lead the delivery of strategy informed by analysis and insight.
	Experience operating in complex organisational and policy environments, with strong judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.
	Working knowledge of legislative processes and government policy frameworks at state and/or federal level is desirable.
	Knowledge of the vocational education and training sector and/or post-secondary education landscape is advantageous.


Qualifications


	Relevant qualifications and proven experience in a mid-senior level role in either the education sector or relevant industry
	A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable and/or significant relevant experience.

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney Medical School is the largest provider of vocational medical education in Australasia and is at the forefront of online learning for clinicians. The Master of Medicine (Critical Care) was established in 2015 and has a significant enrolment of students and alumni. There are a broad range of study areas available including the basic sciences. You will be supported by a cohort of leading clinicians, academics and medical educators from retrieval and emergency medicine, anesthetics, and intensive care medicine. Since 1856 the Sydney Medical School has been dedicated to developing caring, clinically outstanding, research-capable and globally aware graduates who have the capabilities to become leaders in medicine, public health, and research. We advocate for and take a leadership role in contributing to high-quality healthcare and wellbeing. Our staff play a major role in the provision of healthcare in NSW and in several countries in our region.

The Lecturers will assist in the development of learning materials and assessment items, contribute to unit of study teaching activities (mainly online with on-campus workshops in some units). This includes facilitating and moderating online discussion forums and webinars, monitoring student progress and providing feedback and remediation where needed, as well as marking assignments and examination papers. You will contribute to ongoing quality improvement and educational research activity in relation to the Critical Care program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	undertake teaching in the discipline of critical care medicine, and apply scholarly activity to inform teaching and learning practice in the Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) program
	engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards
	suggest, implement, and evaluate improvements and innovations in teaching and learning, where appropriate, under the guidance of more senior academic staff
	develop an understanding of best practice in teaching and learning within the discipline including engagement with relevant scholarly literature.


About you

This is a part-time position at 0.5 FTE for 6 months which is equivalent to 2.5 days per week, and work hours are flexible.

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a highly motivated Junior Research Scientist to work on topics in the theoretical foundations of data science and AI.

The selected candidate will be part of the Foundations Cluster of CIDSAI and will collaborate closely with Professor Saurabh Ray, and Professor Pierre Youssef. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong mathematical background and expertise in one or more of the following areas:


	High-dimensional probability and concentration/functional inequalities
	Markov processes and stochastic analysis
	Theoretical analysis of neural networks and deep learning
	Foundations of reinforcement learning and bandit algorithms
	Mathematical and algorithmic perspectives on large language models
	Statistical learning theory and complexity analysis
	Automated theorem proving and formal methods
	Random matrix theory and its applications in modern AI systems


The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

	a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or computer science with evidence of strong mathematical and computational skills

	Planning, budgeting, and organizational leadership.
	Established track record in advancing high-quality teaching, research, and innovation; experience in curriculum development, academic policy, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and accreditation standards.
	In-depth understanding of global and national higher education systems, including familiarity with Indian regulatory bodies (e.g., UGC, NEP), and experience navigating accreditation and policy frameworks.
	Strong strategic vision with experience aligning institutional priorities, launching new initiatives or campuses, and engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders through excellent communication and collaboration.
