Description Political scientists at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) are looking to hire a full-time junior or assistant research Scientist – equivalent to a research assistant/associate at other institutions – to start in September 2026. The position entails data management, replication, and visualization as well as literature reviews and light text editing. There might be an opportunity for co-authorships for a qualified candidate. A successful candidate must have advanced data analysis skills in R and Stata, experience with data visualization in R, and GIS data work in R and/or ArcGIS. The candidate must be self-motivated, an independent thinker, fluent in English, and have well-developed writing skills. The position is open to applicants with a master’s degree in any social science discipline, quantitative data analysis, or statistics, and with less than 5 years of research experience in the relevant field, and/or PhD degree with any level of experience. Candidates with qualifications in or familiarity with political science are preferred. This is a full-time position based at NYU’s campus in Abu Dhabi. Description We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline in the social sciences. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and is available for up to three years. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professor Stéphane Helleringer. The collaborative research will be on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries, with an emphasis on measurement issues and the impact of crises such as epidemics and disasters. The job entails conducting high-quality research on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries. This includes conceptualizing research questions, designing empirical studies, collecting or acquiring new data sets, and analyzing these data using advanced statistical models and visualization techniques. The job also emphasizes the dissemination of knowledge about population health, particularly through the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, software packages and/or participation in international conferences. Candidates must hold a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health or related discipline in the social sciences. The ideal candidate is preferred to have prior experience with data collection and collaboration in low-and-middle-income countries and good knowledge of R or other software for data management, analysis and visualization. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. The Statistics Group in the Innovation and Information Management (IIM) Area at HKU Business School The Statistics Group in the IIM Area at HKU Business School focuses on statistics and business analytics. The Group’s main research interests span the frontiers of modern statistical methodology and applications, including (but not limited to) machine learning, artificial intelligence, high-dimensional statistical inference, functional data analysis, time series analysis, econometrics, factor models, and privacy protection.
