About the area The School of Biological Sciences is a large and multidisciplinary team of more than 100 high-calibre academic and professional staff delivering world-class education and research programs to approximately 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. About the opportunity Deliver research-led, innovative teaching in marine biology, including field-based learning, while supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. Establish a strong research profile in marine biology and ecology through publications, grant funding and building a vibrant postgraduate research group. Contribute to service, partnerships and academic leadership, supporting collaboration, governance and an inclusive School culture. About you PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to the discipline. Demonstrated record of strong communication skills including science communication beyond academic colleagues. Knowledge of Sustainable Urbanism (low-carbon design, climate adaptation), Smart Cities (digital twins, AI-driven planning), and technical tools (GIS, CIM, urban analytics). Must integrate research with teaching, mentoring students in methodologies like life-cycle assessment and scenario planning. Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration across urban design, policy, and technology to advance global sustainability goals. The appointed candidate will also lead major research projects as a principal investigator, spearheading funding bids and developing innovative methodologies in relevant areas. Candidates must have a PhD degree in a closely related field, proven experience in teaching and curriculum development within the higher education sector, and a growing national or international reputation in their field, demonstrated by a strong publication record. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment are also essential. Salary will be within the range of RMB 450,190 to RMB 592,815 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Description The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. CENTMED oversees a variety of exciting projects developing new treatments and diagnostics for cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will join a number of fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to modulate physiology and neural activity in the brain, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and other peripheral organs. These projects have a high potential for translation towards treating a variety of neurologic and metabolic disorders. These approaches entail device design and manufacturing, drug conjugation, neuroscience, and preclinical model experiments. The candidate will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD-level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full-time researchers. They will also have the chance to contribute to other projects within CENTMED, working on cutting-edge initiatives spanning metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. Be self-directed to fulfil the project requirements. Job Requirements: Competence in working with languages such as C along with AI applications as well as Python-based coding . Have a degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will definitely be advantageous. Knowledge of machine learning, pytorch, huggingface etc... Knowledge of speech, audio, time-series or signal processing is required. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilise industry-standard Linux-based computers for AI. Experience of authoring good quality academic publications. Manage undergraduate research assistants (if appropriate). Liaise with customers and collaborators in A*STAR and NTU, as well as collaborators in the UK and China.
