The Journalism Department at Liverpool John Moores University is seeking an enthusiastic and talented senior lecturer to replace a longstanding team member upon their retirement in August 2026. Our department has a well-established, international reputation for delivering high quality journalism and sports journalism programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are proud of our strong recruitment, extensive industry links and positive graduate outcomes, but above all of the excellent practical training and academic education that our students receive. We are looking for a senior lecturer who will be able to teach across our journalism and sports journalism courses. We would be particularly keen to hear from applicants who can lead both practical sessions and academic modules that consider journalism theory and explore contemporary debates in journalism around representation, ethics and the impact of technology.  You will have a strong background in journalism. You will demonstrate either substantial experience of teaching journalism and/ or sports journalism or substantial relevant professional experience as a practicing journalist combined with a proven commitment to education and training in an industry context. Knowledge of the NCTJ would also be an advantage. About the Role The purpose of this role is to drive the University’s technology transfer activities, turning Cranfield University’s Intellectual Property (IP) into impactful innovations that create tangible value for society. The postholder will promote the efficient transfer of technology created at Cranfield University to end-users, whilst supporting income generation through the exploitation of Intellectual Property (e.g. licensing income). About You The postholder will be the first point of contact for the University on operational issues relating to technology transfer. Their experience and knowledge will enable academic colleagues and Faculties to manage their Intellectual Property effectively and maximise the impact of their research. The postholder will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a science discipline, or have equivalent relevant experience.
