The University of Warwick, based on the outskirts of the city of Coventry, England, first opened its doors in 1965.

Academically, the university is known also for its commitment to research. Warwick maintains around 30 academic departments, organised into four faculties: Arts, Medicine, Science and Social Science. In support of this, the university has an extensive library boasting more than 13 kilometers' worth of manuscripts. Smaller campuses are also maintained at satellite sites.

In terms of recreation, Warwick has a number of different student societies providing for a wide range of interests. In addition, the university’s student union is one of the largest in the UK. Many different events are held on campus, such as music concerts as well as visits from guest speakers.

Some of the most famous alumni of Warwick include Conservative politician David Davis, and former Nigerian president Yakubu Gowon.

The Journalism Department at Liverpool John Moores University is seeking an enthusiastic and talented senior lecturer to replace a longstanding team member upon their retirement in August 2026. Our department has a well-established, international reputation for delivering high quality journalism and sports journalism programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. About the job To lead the technical development, optimisation, validation, and field deployment of a smart optical nitrate sensor platform within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast. The post holder will support the progression of the technology from TRL 4/5 to TRL 6/7 under the Invest NI Proof of Concept (PoC) Stage 2 programme, ensuring robust analytical validation, prototype refinement, and preparation for commercialisation via spin-out or licensing. The role will combine advanced analytical chemistry, microfluidic systems development, and applied environmental testing with translational activity including prototype deployment, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory validation support. The post holder will work closely with the Academic Lead, Delivery Lead, QUBIS Commercialisation Manager, and external partners to de-risk the technology across technical and commercial dimensions. About the person The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: Have or about to obtain a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
