Founded in 1796 as a “place of useful learning”, the University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university located in the heart of Glasgow. For more than 200 years Strathclyde has been delivering academic excellence through world-class research and teaching, providing students with flexible, innovative learning in preparation for their chosen career path.
We are proud of our diverse community of students and staff and have a vibrant, international community with just over 24,500 students from over 100 countries. Strathclyde is committed to providing opportunities for students from every background. As a socially progressive institution, the University is enabling access to education by people from the widest possible range of backgrounds, and all ages and stages of life. We select our students based on merit, potential and the ability to benefit from the education we offer.
By 2025, we will have invested £1 billion in transforming our campus, to create a first-class working and learning environment for our students and staff which is attractive, dynamic, technology-enabled and environmentally sustainable, which is safe and promotes health and wellbeing.
Our partnerships with business, industry and government accelerate and amplify innovation and boost societal advancement, economic success and inclusivity in our city, our country and across the world.
In 2019 Strathclyde was named Times Higher Education University of the Year and awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for excellence in energy innovation. The award recognises institutions that show “quality and innovation” and deliver “real benefit to the wider world and public through education and training”.
Strathclyde also won its largest single research contract in 2019, the £20m One Ocean Hub project, working with 24 research partners, and 35 project partner organisations, with the aim to predict, harness and share equitably environmental, socioeconomic and cultural benefits from ocean conservation and sustainable use.
