Position overview As Project Officer, you will be part of a small, dynamic team at the ANU Defence Institute. The ANU Defence Institute has been established to provide a strategic approach to Defence-relevant education and research, drawing on expertise across the entire University. The Institute provides a ‘front door’ for engagement with Defence and Defence Industry and supports University staff to provide a coordinated approach to delivery of research and education programs in collaboration with Defence and Defence Industry. The Project Officer will work closely with other members of the Institute, and colleagues across campus, liaising with and providing quality advice and service to a variety of academic and professional staff. About the Role The Lecturer will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across the suite of Postgraduate Palliative & End of Life Care topics in the Palliative & End of Life Care Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Masters or specialist short course offerings. You will be responsible for making an independent contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching. You will have the opportunity to develop teaching materials, deliver lectures/tutorials or other innovative teaching and learning strategies, coordinate topics and support assessment work. Another exciting aspect of this role is the opportunity to concurrently engage in practice in a clinical or community setting to support maintenance of contemporary practice, knowledge and skills. Contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics, undertaking the role of Topic Coordinator as required. Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development and career opportunities. Make effective use of innovations and technologies in teaching practice. About You You are passionate about educating the next generation of palliative & end of life care professionals, evident through your longstanding track record of clinical leadership, excellence in teaching at a tertiary level, coupled with your contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies. Your natural ability to establish and maintain relationships with staff, students and industry, highlight your effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. You hold a PhD in the relevant field or equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Palliative & End of Life Care and maintain a current membership or eligibility with a relevant professional association. You will also demonstrate the following: An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to Palliative and End-of-life Care. Evidence of reflective practice. Demonstrated understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship and practice. Demonstrated understanding of curriculum reviews and internal and external accreditation activities. Evidence of upholding the values and ethos of the University. The School of Innovation has been newly established by the University to provide interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary education programmes in the area of innovation and technology.   The appointee will be responsible for developing and leading educational programmes at the School of Innovation in the areas of design, technology and entrepreneurship. He/She is expected to enrich educational programmes through engagement with industry and community partners, and to enrich student innovation projects through mentoring and partnership. Additionally, he/she will facilitate technology translation at the School through venture creations and industrial partnerships. Applicants should possess: a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Science or a related field; at least 10 years of experience working in and contributing to startup ecosystems, including accelerators, incubators, training and mentoring; a proven track record in contributing to the innovation and technology sector, as evidenced by international awards and industry recognition; substantial experience in technology development and translation as evidenced by patents and startup companies; and extensive experience in leading and delivering educational programmes in innovation design and entrepreneurship. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of the gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
