Continuing | Full-Time (with possibility of 0.8 part-time continuing) Higher Education Officer Level 6 | $94,456 - $100,710 p.a. + 17% superannuation Location: Bedford Park  View Position Description  About the Role Responsible for supporting the University in its engagement with key government, political and industry stakeholders, the External Relations and Protocol Partner plays a key role in managing external engagements, official visits and partnerships in support of the University’s objectives. You will support colleagues to effectively navigate government and stakeholder protocols for dignitaries and VIP guests, coordinate reporting on the University’s external relations activities and draft briefings and correspondence supporting external engagement objectives. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team in a dynamic organisation. Other key position responsibilities include: Planning visits and tour itineraries to effectively showcase institutional priorities, facilities and achievements to external stakeholders. Supporting colleagues across the university in effectively navigating government and stakeholder protocols for dignitaries and VIP guests. Ensuring effective engagement with membership organisations by coordinating speaking opportunities, preparing and supporting University representatives, and facilitating associated partnership activities. Working collaboratively with the University’s Events and Media and Communications teams (and broadly across the organisation) to ensure external engagement priorities are fully realised through University events. About You You’re a strong communicator, exceptionally organised and have working knowledge of government and dignitary protocols. Your well-developed interpersonal skills ensure you can easily build and maintain effective relationships with government, political and industry stakeholders. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant field (politics, public policy, communications or similar) along with 3-5 years professional experience in a similar role. Experience in higher education will be highly regarded. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Engineering Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on a research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a high-resolution ambient temperature model that accurately translates Land Surface Temperature (LST) maps from satellite imagery into actual ambient temperature readings with minimal error margins. This will enable urban designer to effectively evaluate the impact of Urban Heat Island (UHI) mitigation measures and validate simulation results from microclimate models. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Weather station deployment and other urban microclimate sensors in selected locations to gather real-time ambient data Data collection, analyse the ambient temperature data, and correlating pixel-based surface temperature data with ground-based measurements to support model validation Technical data integration of 3D building data such BIM model and geospatial data such as hard surface, greenery in Geographical Information System (GIS) such as QGIS open platform. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of sustainable built environment, including in neighbourhood and building-scale modelling. Have a degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or Sustainable Built Environment or Building Science. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Description The Bias, Ethics, and Privacy Cluster within the Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate under the supervision of Professor Hanan Salam to work on the development of frameworks, tools, and theoretical foundations for bias detection and mitigation in AI & data science, with a particular focus on applications relevant to the Arab world. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary research team working at the intersection of machine learning, algorithmic fairness, human-computer interaction, and responsible AI. The project aims to investigate how bias emerges in data pipelines and AI systems, understand the design and development decisions that propagate social biases, and develop theoretical and algorithmic approaches to mitigate them. Key responsibilities include developing bias detection tools, building fairness-aware algorithms, and contributing to practical guidelines and theoretical frameworks that address systemic bias in data-driven systems. This position offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant research environment with faculty and collaborators across computer science, data science, design, and ethics, and to contribute to high-impact research that shapes the development of equitable and inclusive AI technologies in the Arab region. Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, HCI, or a closely related field, and a strong track record of research in areas such as algorithmic fairness, bias in machine learning, ethics in AI, or sociotechnical systems. Strong programming and data analysis skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience working with interdisciplinary research.
