As part of its strategic growth, the University is in the process of establishing a new, multidisciplinary School of Health Sciences and invites applications from accomplished academics for the position of Dean. As the University launches this new initiative, we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to manage the school’s academic, research, and operational development, and to help establish it as a trusted centre for health sciences education and public service. The Dean will provide strategic leadership and overall governance of the school, ensuring that its diverse academic programs, research output, and experiential clinical training meet the highest global standards and regional workforce demands. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Academic Leadership: Lead the formulation, launch, and execution of the school’s comprehensive strategic plan, ensuring strict alignment with the University’s mission and long-term vision. Establish a Healthcare Program Advisory Board to maintain program currency. Programs and Quality Assurance: Oversee the conceptual design, curriculum validation, and continuous enhancement of a diverse array of health science programmes, ensuring compliance with national (CYQAA) and international accreditation and quality standards. Research & Innovation: Cultivate a vibrant, collaborative, and impactful research culture, promoting interdisciplinary research collaboration, securing competitive external funding and global health grants, and increasing high-quality scholarly output. Operational Management: Direct the School’s day-to-day administrative and operational functions. Strategically negotiate and maintain robust agreements with partners,and oversee the development of modern facilities and specialized laboratories. Essential Qualifications Academic Credentials: An earned Doctorate (PhD or equivalent terminal degree) in a Health Science discipline (e.g., Public Health, Health Data Science, Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field). The candidate must hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Research Profile: A distinguished and active record of scholarship and peer-reviewed publications, with demonstrated success in securing significant external research funding or health industry grants. Educational Leadership Experience: Substantial higher education administration experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, or Director) within a medical or health professions education environment. Teaching & Mentorship: Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum design, and mentoring students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across both conventional and digital/blended learning platforms.
