The Estate Development team is about to embark on delivering our new Estate Plan. The plan sets out to develop an estate of the right scale and configuration to underpin a campus that is both financially and environmentally sustainable. The quality of the estate will continue to be a critical factor in attracting students, fostering a sense of belonging and sustaining positive outcomes for our students and research activity. All new projects will look to advance the University’s net zero ambitions, deliver greater biodiversity across campus, expand electrification and upgrade infrastructure to make sure the University is ready for the challenges ahead. The Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team is a small but high impact team; in 2025 it achieved Eco Campus Platinum and ISO50001 Certification and supported the institution to reach 15th place in the People and Planet University League. We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join this driven and passionate team to lead on the implementation of two key sustainability delivery plans. We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Manager who will be responsible for coordinating and delivering numerous workstreams under the Liverpool John Moores University Climate and Sustainability Plan. You will work to embed environmental sustainability into university day-to-day operations and support the university’s ambition of achieving Net Zero Carbon. The role will require flexibility across all sustainability themes, but key responsibilities will be to implement the Biodiversity and Active and Sustainable Travel Delivery Plans and to support the maintenance of the Environmental and Energy Management System (ISO14001/ISO50001 aligned). You will be based within Estate Development but will be expected to engage with key stakeholders and collaborate across university professional, academic and student communities to coordinate and drive activity to deliver continuous performance improvement. You will have a degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline; strong knowledge of biodiversity and ecological monitoring, including key species groups (birds, pollinators, bats); experience of ecological survey design, coordination, data collection, analysis, and reporting; have knowledge of relevant UK and regional policy frameworks relating to biodiversity, green infrastructure, sustainable transport, and climate resilience; have strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to deliver complex projects to budget and timescale. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related fields from a recognized University. Industry certifications like OSCP, CISSP, or CEH are a plus. Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in security analyst, preferably with exposure to cybersecurity applications. Proven experience as a Certified Security Analyst or in a related role, with a strong understanding of industry best practices, cybersecurity frameworks, IoT Security, OT Security, and Mobile Security. Strong understanding of cryptography, including symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic primitives, protocols, and PQC. Experience with adversarial machine learning techniques and defenses. Clear understanding of information security principles and the cyber technology landscape. Ability to develop and enforce security policies, conduct security awareness training, and stay updated on emerging cyber threats and hacker methodologies. Experience in developing and enhancing frameworks or standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling cybersecurity incidents in different industries. Soft Skills & Mindset: Passionate about cybersecurity, technically hands-on, willing to learn, and curious about the inner workings of Enterprise/OT/Telecommunications technologies and exploiting their vulnerabilities. Strong interest in supporting research and academic projects, with the ability to adopt and manage new security technologies. Willingness to pursue professional certifications in cybersecurity governance, such as CISSP, OSCP, CSSP (Industry certifications are an added advantage). Actively participate in cybersecurity-related projects or organizations, such as CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team), ISACA, or ISC2.

Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre Limited (ABIC) is a collaborative effort coordinated by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) undertaking R&D projects at the Hong Kong Science Park. The aim of ABIC is to develop new and disruptive technologies that will meet the needs of the healthcare sector and contribute to human health. Applications are invited for appointments as Project Specialist (Ref.: H01/2025/121) for innovative technology and product development projects specifically in the field of Organoids and Microphysiological Systems (MPS). More experienced candidates can be hired for the Product Development Scientist position. Job Description Designing, developing, and optimizing novel organoid culture protocols, with a strong focus on patient-derived organoids and cancer organoids. Establishing robust 3D cell culture models, including optimization of culture media, extracellular matrix components, and growth factors. Integrating organoid models into Microphysiological Systems (MPS) to create physiologically relevant in vitro platforms. Developing and optimizing assays for drug screening, toxicity testing, and mechanistic studies using organoid and MPS. Conducting experiments to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic agents. Staying abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in the fields of organoids, MPS, and cancer biology. Translating research outcomes into marketable applications and business opportunities Writing proposals, reports, articles, patents, technical specifications, and other publications  Delivering high-quality presentations to collaborators and partners Handling other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor(s) Requirements Master or above in Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related life sciences disciplines Mature, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure  Highly proficient and fluent in English in both writing and verbal communications 1+ years of relevant industry (corporate, non-academic) R&D experience in the biotech sector is a MUST, with the following capabilities: Demonstrated expertise in 3D cell culture techniques, with a strong emphasis on organoid culture. Hands-on experience with patient-derived organoid (PDO) culture and characterization  Experience with microphysiological systems (MPS) design, fabrication, and operation is highly desirable Understanding of cancer medicine, including mechanisms of tumorigenesis, oncological drug delivery, and drug resistance Experienced in a wide range of cell biology and drug screening techniques, such as immunofluorescence, microscopy, PCR, flow cytometry, toxicology assays, etc. Experience with Contract Research Organization (CRO) or Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) services is a definite advantage A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
