About the job: The China Medical University - Queen's University of Belfast Joint College (CQC) was established through a long-standing partnership between Queen's School of Pharmacy and China Medical University (CMU). As a Post-doctoral fellow in the Bonifazi group, you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, and cutting-edge applications in photosynthesis, fostering collaborations with both academic and industrial partners, and be part of an international team. Your personal sphere of play: The successful candidate will join a dynamic international research environment dedicated to developing functional molecular architectures for light harvesting, photocatalysis, electrosynthesis, and optoelectronic applications. The research activities will focus on the design and synthesis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heteroatom-doped graphenoid systems through the development of new synthetic methodologies based on radical annulation strategies, photocatalytic transformations, and electrosynthetic approaches. These molecular platforms will be engineered as next-generation functional materials for applications in optoelectronics, molecular energy conversion, and light-responsive technologies. The project combines advanced targeted organic synthesis, with particular emphasis on the discovery of innovative synthetic methodologies for the controlled construction of extended π-conjugated systems. Special attention will be devoted to developing radical-mediated annulation reactions that enable the rapid and modular synthesis of structurally defined PAHs, nanographenes, and molecular semiconductors with tailored electronic and photophysical properties. The employment duration is 3 years. Your future tasks: The selected candidate will work on the preparation and characterization of sophisticated molecular architectures using modern synthetic methodologies, including transition-metal catalysis and radical-mediated transformations, and multistep organic synthesis. The research program further aims to establish structure, property relationships governing the electronic, photophysical, and charge-transport properties of these materials, enabling their integration into emerging optoelectronic and energy-related applications. The position, therefore, offers a unique opportunity to work at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry, radical chemistry, molecular materials, and optoelectronics within a highly collaborative and internationally visible research framework. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to: Participate in international publications/ academic articles and presentations. Participate in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement. Supervise students. Collaborate with national and international partners. The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Mathematical Foundations of Computing Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is an advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Computer Science (CSE) program and possibly a sibling program dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as graduate courses in the Computer Science (MCS). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduct is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, comprising lectures on two to four modules from the following areas: Calculus Algebra Discrete Mathematics Statistics Theoretical Computer Science Applied Maths for CS Mathematical foundations of Machine Learning The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring Ph.D. students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to VGU's scientific profile through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in one or several of the following fields: optimization (including lost/cost functions, stochastics), statistics (including Bayes' theorem, sampling, cross-entropy loss), computational complexity & automata theory (including advanced algorithms, formal methods), and foundations of machine learning (including linear algebra and calculus). The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Computer Science Program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. Those in the final stages of their doctoral studies may also be considered, provided they demonstrate exceptional promise. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on derivatives & gradients, linear transformations, lost/cost functions, stochastics, computational complexity, logic, graph theory or other areas closely related to it Proven expertise in techniques for descriptive statistics, vectors & matrices and combinatorics Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research  Experience in industry is of advantage Proven excellent English proficiency: Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission.
