The Flinders Health Centre will bring together education, research and healthcare through an integrated, interprofessional model of practice. As Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the successful delivery of major project workstreams, partnering with a multidisciplinary project team and a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes across governance budget and program objectives. Reporting to the Project Director, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark project that will shape the future of education, healthcare and research, supporting the University’s student-centred focus. Key responsibilities include: Leading the successful delivery of complex, large-scale strategic infrastructure and development projects from concept through to completion. Partnering with senior leaders, consultants, contractors and diverse stakeholder groups to drive project outcomes and organisational priorities. Providing strong governance, risk management and reporting to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently and effectively. This position makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to changing 10 million lives - Every One Matters, by 2035 through innovation, collaboration and ethical technology. The ideal candidate will also hold postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in project coordination and/or management of building related projects, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.  About the College/Portfolio  The Property, Facilities and Development (PFD) team works across all of Flinders’ places, spaces, and physical infrastructure. Working across four key areas: Strategic Planning and Sustainability; Capital Development; Customer and Site Services; and Strategic Projects, we are responsible for the planning, development, capital delivery, management, and maintenance of university spaces to ensure they are fit for purpose and support Flinders to deliver its strategic objectives. 0.6 FTE (21 hours per week) Part time fixed term for 12 months based at Camperdown Campus gain hands-on experience working on a cutting-edge space mission alongside leading engineers and researchers Base Salary $107,312 - $115,686 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The TOLIMAN Space Telescope is an ambitious international space mission led by the University of Sydney, designed to search for planets orbiting Alpha Centauri, our nearest neighbouring star system. The mission combines cutting-edge optics, precision mechatronics, advanced electronics, spacecraft engineering, and data science to achieve astrometric measurements at unprecedented levels of precision. To accomplish this, a unique optical system has been developed that uses a diffractive mask to imprint a highly stable optical ruler onto the telescope image, enabling the detection of minute stellar motions caused by orbiting planets. To make this measurement possible, several novel and highly precise engineering systems are being developed, including advanced fine-pointing mechanisms, thermal control systems, precision electronics, and specialised flight instrumentation. The mission is progressing rapidly toward spacecraft integration and testing ahead of its planned 2027-28 launch window, and an exciting opportunity exists to join the engineering team during this critical phase of development. Job Qualifications Master’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, Automation, or a closely related field. Strong background in embedded systems, sensors, measurement technologies, and analogue/digital electronics. Familiarity with Python or object-oriented programming. Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, electronic circuits, and laboratory measurement equipment. Demonstrated excellence or clear potential in university-level teaching, especially at the undergraduate level. Experience in supervising student projects, theses, or embedded/electronics competitions is highly desirable. Practical industry experience in embedded systems, IoT, electronics, or sensor applications is an advantage.
