The University of Missouri-Kansas City is a public urban research university located on the Missouri side of Kansas City. Established nearly a century ago, the university is recognised for its small class sizes, highly engaged faculty and strong commitment to widening access to higher education.
Today the university serves over 15,000 students drawn from all 50 US states and more than 80 countries. It offers over 400 student groups and a wide range of academic programmes. It also offers study abroad opportunities.
Around 80 per cent of undergraduates receive scholarships or grants, with nearly US$206 million awarded in financial aid last year.
From 2018 to 2022, spending on research almost doubled to US$53 million. Fundraising has also grown a lot, with US$94 million raised last year, exceeding goals.
The university comprises two main campuses: Volker Campus and Health Sciences Campus, both located in Kansas City. Student services include on-campus accommodation, health and wellness support, fitness and recreation facilities, and transport options such as shuttle buses, bike rentals and city buses.
