About us The Department of Informatics is looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity Education. This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to grow our department and realise our vision of a diverse, inclusive and innovative department of Informatics at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. We seek applicants who will support us in our ambitions in inclusivity and diversity. As we continue to grow and strengthen our department, we are seeking to appoint a lecturer or senior lecturer in the area of Cybersecurity. We welcome applications from candidates who have an international profile in research and education in any of the following areas: systems security, security engineering, security testing, computer forensics, AI for security and privacy, and security and privacy of AI. We consider computer science challenges from a broad perspective. Members of the department regularly publish in and sit on the program committees of top-tier and well-known venues in computer science and software engineering. Top-quality research establishes members of the Department as leaders in their fields. It is the research transformative aspect that provides the opportunity to serve society while supporting King’s as an outstanding institution in science and technology. The Department has strong links with industry, who engage with us in collaborative research projects. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate education (in both computer science and artificial intelligence) catering for the needs of our students and the organisations in which they will work. The successful applicant for this post will be involved in delivering teaching in a core area of computer science. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Cybersecurity (CYS) group and will have the opportunity to contribute to cross-cutting hubs (see https://www.kcl.ac.uk/informatics/research/groups ). Research collaboration across research groups, with departmental hubs and with other Departments in the Faculty and across the College is strongly encouraged. About the role Make significant contributions to the teaching, examining and project supervision of students in the Department of Informatics. Establish and disseminate innovative teaching practices in the department. Deliver an excellent student experience through innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, in core computer science and a specialism in computer science or artificial intelligence. Enthusiastically contribute to academic management and support the administration and development of the department to further its education, research activities, and ambitions. Undertake a self-directed programme of scholarship in cybersecurity education at a level commensurate with current international standard. Act as personal tutor to students as agreed with the Head of Department, assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems and be responsible for the pastoral care of students. Contribute fully and conscientiously to administrative tasks in the department. Actively promote and participate in equality, diversity and collegiality. Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be requested by the Head of Department. The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria- Lecturer PhD in computer science or related field. Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in core areas of computer science. Ability to collaboratively engage with different stakeholders (e.g., the student body through staff/student liaison or Students’ Union, or outside organisations linked with the Department) Ability to develop and deliver high and innovative teaching methods Ability to make a significant contribution to administrative work. Essential criteria- Senior Lecturer PhD in computer science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence or related field. Excellent teaching and examining experience of computer science topics at MSc and/or Undergraduate level (including experience designing a module, developing teaching material and designing assessments). Ability to develop and deliver high and innovative teaching, including flipped classroom and online methods. Record of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in core areas of computer science. Evidence to make a significant contribution to administrative work.
