Established in 1978, the University of Marrakech Cadi Ayyad is a relatively young institution, but despite its short history has become a major university in Morocco. It has grown substantially since its founding, and substantially expanded its student numbers in the early 2010s.
The university is comprised of 13 academic institutions, the majority of which are located in Marrakech, the capital of Morocco. Outside of Marrakech are the Faculty of Technology in Essaouira, the University Cente in Kelaa of Essraghna, and the Technology, Multidisciplinary and Applied Sciences Schools in Safi.
While the number of physical places at the university continues to grow, the University of Marrakech Cadi Ayyad has also developed an e-learning program, offering a number of courses online and helping increase access to education for some of the poorest and most remote areas of Morocco. With the e-learning program, the number of students currently enrolled at the University of Marrakech Cadi Ayyad has grown significantly.
Scientific research is a great source of pride for the university, and with more than 1,400 research professors and 146 research facilities it has become a leading scientific and technological centre in Morocco. The MOSS Project, run by a French-Moroccan-Swiss partnership, is a university-linked observatory in the Atlas Mountains. This project has been responsible for the discovery of two major comets and one near-Earth object (NEO), and as such the project is generally considered a great source of prestige for the university.

Faculty of Educational Sciences invites applications for the position of ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR OF LANGUAGE EDUCATION The appointee may be appointed to a fixed-term tenure-track assistant or associate professorship or permanent full professorship, depending on their qualifications and career stage. Job overview The duties of the position include leading research in the field, developing research networks, engaging in international activities, and providing teaching, particularly in subject teacher training, the Study Track for Class Teachers and doctoral education. The field of the position is concerned with the study and teaching of foreign languages traditionally taught in schools, the questions arising from an increasingly multilingual school environment and its cultures of practice, and research on these themes. The appointee will oversee studies in language didactics, doctoral education in the field, and broadly related research. They will supervise theses and lead and develop research through both Finnish and international networks. Collaboration with the University’s teacher training schools and subject faculties forms a central part of the role, which also carries administrative responsibilities and an expectation of public engagement. Qualification requirements and appointment criteria Associate and assistant professors within the tenure track system must hold an applicable doctoral degree and be capable of conducting independent scholarly work, alongside the requisite teaching skills. Research relevant to the professorship’s field is considered an asset. In addition, the appointee must be capable and willing to promote their academic career through publications and other means, and develop teaching, learning and research in the field. The assessment of applicant qualifications considers not only research and teaching merits, but also success in securing external research funding and experience in domestic and international research projects. Full professors must hold an applicable doctoral degree and possess advanced academic qualifications, experience in leading scholarly research, and evidence of success in securing external research funding and international collaboration in their research field. Applicants must be able to deliver teaching based on top-level research and supervise theses. The position also requires academic leadership skills. The assessment of applicant qualifications considers both scholarly and teaching-related qualifications. Pedagogical studies for teachers (60 cr) or comparable studies outside Finland will be considered an advantage. Scholarly qualifications encompass relevant publications and other academically valuable research results, success in securing external research funding, international research experience, as well as academic responsibilities and elected positions, and international relations. The Alumni Relations Coordinator will develop and maintain our LJMU Connect platform to support effective alumni engagement and interaction, including coordinating mentoring partnerships. The role will coordinate alumni events; support the scheduling and delivery of communications through digital platforms; and act as a first point of contact for alumni enquiries, helping ensure a positive and joined up experience.
