Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS The Department has focus research areas in (a) Advanced Materials & Energy and (b) Biophysics & Complex Systems. Interdisciplinary research is actively promoted by the Faculty of Science, fostered under the University-wide six Interdisciplinary Labs (https://interdisciplinary-research.hkbu.edu.hk/), and supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, such as the Life Science Imaging Centre (https://research.hkbu.edu.hk/resources/facilities-and-labs/hkbu-life-science-imaging-centre). Being part of a rapidly evolving research and educational landscape in the region, the Department strives to nurture leadership in emerging fields of transdisciplinary science, in particular advanced materials and device physics for biomedical/healthcare and green energy applications, big data and AI in smart sensor technology, and quantitative and systems biology. These efforts are supported by infrastructural and internationalisation initiatives at the University level and grounded on the Department's research achievements (evidenced by extensive international collaborations, external reviews such as Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), start-up companies and prestigious awards). The Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor. Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (25260372) Responsibilities: The appointees will perform high-impact research, teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contribute to professional and institutional services. Collaboration with other faculty members in research and teaching is also expected. Requirements: The candidates should have a PhD degree in Physics, Microelectronics, Advanced Materials or other relevant disciplines, a proven track record of collaborative research and a strong commitment to teaching. Experimental scientists with strong expertise in soft matters, biomaterials, flexible electronics, and electronics with living systems for applications in health monitoring, biomedical sensor devices, and multi-functional human-machine interaction, such as wearable electronics, microchip implant for machine-brain interface, tissue repair, and disease diagnosis, monitoring and treatment, are especially encouraged to apply. Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE  DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE  The Department presently offers BSc, MSc, MPhil, and PhD programmes, and is now seeking outstanding applicants for the following faculty positions on tenure-track.  Assistant Professor (Computer Science) (25260312) The appointees will perform high-impact research, teach and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contribute to professional and institutional services. Collaboration with other faculty members in research and teaching is also expected. They will be encouraged to collaborate with colleagues within the Department to contribute to two special thematic applications including (a) health informatics and (b) security and privacy-aware computing, and to pursue new strategic research initiatives under the Department/Faculty/University. AI and Digitalisation of Media and Film Candidates should possess expertise in AI and digital technology in relation to screen media such as film, television, and internet-based media. We seek individuals with specialised knowledge in the production and distribution of digital content in the rapidly changing global platforms. 2. Global Film, Media and Entertainment Candidates should demonstrate expertise across regions, with expertise in at least one developed market region, ideally Asia. We are particularly interested in candidates skilled in analysing media markets and industries in the rapidly changing media technology environment. Successful applicants will contribute to the development and teaching of the transdisciplinary programme, BA (Hons) in Business Administration (Global Entertainment), ensuring alignment with industry practices and emerging trends. Requirements: Hold a PhD, or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline; Have substantial professional knowledge and experience in the relevant area(s); Demonstrates evidence of quality teaching and research; and Have excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
