The RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau was founded in 1970 and is the sole technology and natural sciences university in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
The university is research based and students can select to study from more than 100 courses of studies across twelve departments.
It was initially part of the University of Trier but became independent after separation in 1975. Key areas of focus for the university are technology related areas, including: electrotechnology, electrical and computer engineering, and computer Science.
Industrial placements and opportunities for international studies guarantees academic training that is closely linked to the reality of business practice.
The university’s campus is located on the edge of the world-famous UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Palatinate Forest characterised by chestnut trees, pine forests, imposing sandstone cliffs and home to lynxes, wildcats and peregrine falcons. The forest is the largest single woodland space in Germany.
The university boasts a sports hall, which includes facilities for badminton, volleyball and table tennis, while students can run, play hockey, basketball and football in the accompanying sports grounds.
The university often hosts specialist congresses, conferences, concerts, exhibitions, the university ball, and an annual summer festival drawing in thousands of students and visitors.
The university works with renowned research facilities including the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the Max-Planck Institute for Software Systems to benefit their students after graduation.
Many alumni go on to work within technology, including Friedemann Mattern, scientist and developer of the vector clock algorithm.
On January 1st, 2023, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern and the Landau site of the former University of Koblenz-Landau merged to form the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU).

Research Assistant Working Collaboratively with the Homeless Sector

The clinical psychology programme team is looking to employ a full time Research Assistant from March 2026 to September 2027 to support the development of our work within the Homeless sector. This post is crucial to the programme being able to build the evidence of the impact of providing training placements for clinical psychologists within the sector. Until very recently there was limited training opportunities to work in this sector owing to the barriers of supervision and placement expectations. Over the last two year we have piloted a new approach which NHSE have supported. They have provided further financial commitment for to enable us to extend the project and explore how best to evaluate the direct and indirect benefits of the project. This post would particularly suit those with an aspiration to become a clinical psychologist and will provide an opportunity to work with a team of applied psychologists, homeless sector partners as well as trainees who respect and value one another, are advocates for lived experience, lifelong learning, and who embrace change. About you Applicants will typically need to have a master’s degree in psychology or a relevant field and will be confident in the use of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies as well as how to undertake evaluations. They will have self-assurance in their written and oral communication skills so that they are able to engage in sensitive topics of conversations. The profession of clinical psychology currently attracts fewer individuals from minority groups into training. These posts will play a central role in helping us to understand how the profession can help address psychological and physical health inequalities in this sector, so we are seeking someone who wishes to contribute to this and be part of a cultural change. We do this by bringing together world-leading experts in trials (design, methods, and conduct), biostatistics, patient-reported outcomes, health economics, translational research, research synthesis, and health technology assessment. Collaborative partnerships help us to ensure trial results best inform clinical practice. The Institute for Musculoskeletal Health is part of the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH). Our researchers work collaboratively with researchers within the FMH and across the University to advance the quality and effectiveness of research. The Clinical Trial Assistant works as part of the clinical trials research team in a support role to perform general administrative duties for the COMFORT and SAGE trials - trials designed to support general practitioners optimise the management of people with low back and neck pain. The Clinical Trial Assistant tasks include: site visits and site monitoring, patient-participant follow-up, preparing documents, maintaining records, data entry, updating and collating materials, responding to queries and exploring and sourcing solutions for the trial team and collaborative groups.
