The University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, founded in 1867, is the flagship campus of the University of Illinois. 

It is the second oldest public university in the state of Illinois, after Illinois State University, and is made up of 17 colleges offering about 150 different study programmes.  The institution is spread out over some 647 building set on a 4,500 acre campus. 

The university is one of the original 37 public land-grant institutions that were founded when Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act in 1862. 

The libraries at the university hold one of the biggest collections of any public library in the US, with some 13 million volumes across nearly 40 library sites. 

Some 11 graduates of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign have gone on to win Nobel Prizes, with 18 winning Pulitzer Prizes. 

The university’s Krannert Center for the Performing Arts  has four theatres, which seat 4,000 people and host about 350 performances by both students and professional acts every year. Its Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion contain nearly 10,000 works of art, while the Spurlock Museum has 46,00 artefacts from around the world. 

The largest collection of John Philip Sousa music manuscripts is housed at the university’s Sousa Archives Center for American Music. 

There are 23 halls of residence at the university – enough to accommodate more than 8,500 students. 

The university takes its name from the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana, which have a combined population of 207,000 and are located about 180 miles north of St Louis and 140 miles south of Chicago.

Your Key Responsibilities as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A): Deliver innovative treatments for eating disorders as part of a clinical trial team, including novel personalised psychotherapy packages for eating disorders, a new brain training and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) package and clinician-guided digital therapies. Deliver high-quality psychological therapy to trial participants under trial conditions, according to protocol and therapy manual, ensuring adherence to ethical and clinical research standards while maintaining participant safety, engagement, and treatment integrity.Conduct high-quality research contributing to the co-design, development and testing of a new personalised measurement-based Single Session Intervention for young people with emerging or full-syndrome eating disorders. Analyse quantitative and qualitative data, prepare ethics and governance documentation, and contribute to publications, reports, conference presentations and other research outputs that advance discipline knowledge. Conduct research and scholarly activities, independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the advancement of knowledge within the discipline. Develop and refine research capabilities under the guidance of senior academic staff, progressively taking ownership of project milestones, timelines and research activities and building toward increasing independence. Support and mentor students and junior team members where appropriate, while fostering a collaborative, inclusive and respectful team culture aligned to the values of the InsideOut Institute and University of Sydney. Contribute to administrative activities, stakeholder engagement, faculty meetings and broader strategic initiatives that strengthen the impact and national profile of the InsideOut Institute. In addition to the above, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level B): Lead the development of an independent research profile, with a strong track record of high-quality publications and scholarly outputs. Hold a consumer-focused, collaborative approach, with an emerging research profile and interest in contributing to innovative programs related to the field of eating disorders or mental health. The successful candidate will be based at Maynooth University and will lead analysis of the observational and statistical foundations of sea level data required to robustly characterise tidal, storm surge, and fluvial flood interactions. The postholder will assess the adequacy of existing observation networks, identify key data gaps, and develop quantitative analyses of compound flooding drivers using tide gauge, river flow, meteorological, and reanalysis datasets. They will generate probabilistic descriptions of extreme events to support the future‑proofing of fluvial–coastal models in an Irish context, and provide derived datasets and statistical insights to other work packages within the project  Salary: Post-Doctoral Researcher (2026): €46,805 p.a.
