The university has two campuses: the Hamidiye Campus which is the main campus and the Gulhane Campus. There are nine faculties at the university which include medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, health sciences, international medicine, life sciences, health sciences and sports health and sports sciences. There are 37 research facilities and six vocational schools. There are a range of student clubs including orienteering club, music and folk dance club, international students club and sports club among others. There are four libraries across the campuses one of which includes rare manuscripts in the Ottoman language.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Perform materials characterisation and microstructural analysis, including but not limited to: X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) X-ray Diffraction (XRD) Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) Isothermal calorimetry Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) Evaluation of strength development and hydration behaviour Durability performance and long-term behaviour. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Any adhoc duties assigned. Job Requirements Master’s degree in Materials Science (Cement and Concrete), Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Demonstrated knowledge and competence in cementitious materials and concrete characterisation, especially for Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC³) and Carbonated Steel Slag Cement. Familiarity with cement chemistry and hydration mechanisms will be an advantage. Key Competencies Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Description The Center of Astrophysics and Space Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work with the Mars Research Group to support scientific investigations of the Martian atmosphere and surface using data from the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) “Hope” probe. The position contributes to ongoing research, data analysis, simulation efforts, and dissemination of scientific results from Hope observations. The funding for this position is provided by the UAE Space Agency. Applicants with additional questions about the role or the associated research project may contact the Principal Investigator Dr. Dimitra Atri (atri@nyu.edu). The successful applicant will; Analyze Emirates Mars Mission (Hope) data: Conduct detailed analysis of atmospheric and surface observations collected by the UAE’s Hope probe to support scientific goals of understanding Martian atmospheric and surface processes. Assist with analysis of additional Mars mission datasets: Examine and interpret complementary data from other Mars missions to strengthen current models and provide comparative insights that enhance research conclusions from Hope observations. Develop Machine Learning methods and run numerical simulations on NYUAD’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) system. Support preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations: Assist in drafting reports, papers, and conference materials to communicate research findings to the global scientific community. A candidate with a Master’s degree is preferred; however, the minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in physics, computer science, or a related discipline. The role requires strong programming skills in Python, competency in data analysis and scientific computing, and the ability to work with large datasets. Familiarity with machine learning and planetary science concepts is highly beneficial. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
