The University now seeks to appoint an exceptional Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students within the Faculty of Humanities. This senior academic leadership position is responsible for shaping, delivering and enhancing the Faculty’s priorities for teaching, learning and the student experience, in alignment with the University’s Manchester 2035 strategy. The Vice-Dean for TLS will provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing the Faculty’s teaching, learning and student experience priorities. The postholder will champion innovation in curriculum design, assessment, digital education and inclusive teaching, fostering a culture of continuous improvement informed by data, student feedback and external benchmarks. A key focus will be on advancing flexible, personalised and digitally enabled learning, and making partner-enabled learning a signature of every Manchester degree. The role oversees the quality and consistency of the student journey, from recruitment and induction through to graduation and employment, and promotes student engagement, co-creation and the integration of the student voice in decision-making. The Vice-Dean will also drive initiatives to widen participation and promote social mobility, supporting the University’s ambition to deliver a transformative, values-led education for a diverse and global student body. Working collaboratively across the Faculty and University, the Vice-Dean will represent the Faculty internally and externally at the highest level. About this position: The Centre of Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science is comprised of 15 groups that conduct internationally leading research in the field of microbial ecology and environmental systems science. Positions have a limited duration with an option for extension. One 4-month position is available for students of the Doctoral School in Microbiology and Environmental Science through this job announcement. Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Sino-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Launched in 2012, WKU offers a unique model of higher education in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive, public university in the state of New Jersey that is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College of Business and Public Management is an AACSB-accredited business school. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced developed cities on China’s East Coast, located one hour by plane and three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai. WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls about 5,200 students, and it is now in the midst of a rapid growth that will bring enrollment to 8,500 students within the next five years. All instruction is in English and all curriculum is provided by Kean University. In addition to its current 18 undergraduate programs, WKU has been approved by the Ministry of Education for offering 8 Master’s and 3 doctorate programs. Position Information: We invite applicants to apply for a full-time, 10-month, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer in Management, to begin Spring 2026 (February 11, 2026) and Fall 2026 (August 16, 2026). The successful candidate will be able to teach Management-related courses and participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including student advising and service to the University.
