Duties and Responsibilities: The appointee will play a pivotal role in supporting AI-related research activities and will serve as the key liaison between the research team and partner firms. Specific responsibilities include: Managing research projects conducted in collaboration with industry partners; Identifying an serving as the primary point of contact between academic researchers and industry collaborators; Collecting data and relevant case materials resulting from these partnerships; Creating and preparing materials related to AI courses and knowledge transfer.  Requirements: Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in a relevant discipline, such as Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. They should demonstrate a strong combination of business acumen and technical expertise in AI and machine learning. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience in industry-academic collaboration or project management will be highly regarded. As the Finance & Operations Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening the Institute's financial and operational capability. Working under the newly appointed Chief Operating Officer, Tarun Sankaran, and with the Institute leadership, you will have the opportunity to enhance financial processes, reporting frameworks, and data integrity by integrating information across multiple systems and delivering insightful management reporting to support strategic decision-making. You will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, while supporting grant oversight, invoicing workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives. Through strong collaboration across teams, you will help establish consistent, scalable, and efficient financial and operational practices that enable the Institute to deliver on its mission. Produce high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and performance insights using financial and non-financial KPIs, including visualisation tools such as Power BI. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting methodologies. Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, facilitating collaboration and ensuring alignment with operational and strategic priorities. Lead and develop the team, overseeing resource management, performance development, compliance, and risk management within the work area. About you Postgraduate qualifications in Business or Finance or a related field, with a relevant combination of training and experience. Membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants or Certified Practicing Accountants Australia (desirable but not required). Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, and financial reporting. Strong numeracy skills with experience managing income and expenditure, budget tracking, reconciliations, and invoice processing. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with financial data to support analysis and reporting. Excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and sound decision-making capabilities. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics. Experience in numerical techniques and analytical field-theoretical approaches is desirable. Applicants who are in the process of completing a Ph.D. degree will also be considered. The appointee will work with Prof. Zi Yang Meng to conduct research on computational and theoretical condensed matter physics.
